Misc Clonazepam, Budeprion, and libido question

Alright so I'm taking these prescribed by my doc for anxiety+depression. They've worked quite well (well the benzo has at least, I can't really tell if the SSRI is doing anything)... and I'm very confident that I will not need to be on them for very long... I've been using my lessened anxiety (it's not all gone) to go out and really push myself at bars, clubs, any social occasion... basically growing balls of steel. I figure, and my doctor agreed with me, that these behavior patterns will stick with me once I stop taking the drugs. So I'm very happy with that.

I don't have an appnt with him though for 3 weeks and I'm concerned about one thing. Either the benzo or the SSRI or both have severely decreased my libido, and I'm a 22 year old male. I should be really horny naturally lol. As long as it's only temporary I don't care, but this isn't permanent right?

I am taking 6mg of Clonazepam (2mg 3x a day) and 1 150mg Budeprion tablet twice a day.

^i don't know about that. Bupropion is the drug they generally prescribe as an alternative or adjunct when SSRI's cause sexual dysfunction. Bupropion is an NRI and *increases* libido for most.

That is a pretty large dose of clonazepam, how long have you been on benzos?
 
i agree with the post a few above. i'd be willing to say it's not the klonopin. whenever i take benzos, usually xanax or klonopin, i get really horny.
 
Well I don't really care if it lowers my libido temporarily I'm just concerned... is it PERMANENT????

I've been on that dosage for about 3 weeks and on Clonazepam at smaller dosages for about 2 months. Never had benzos before. I don't plan on staying on either of these drugs for long. Clonazepam has allowed me to grow (out of the anxieties and depression) REALLY fast in a lot of ways....
 
6mg of clonazepam/day after only 2 months is pretty high for therapeutic use, I'm surprised you were prescribed this.

I've never heard of a drug that causes permanent sexual dyusfunction after temporary use so if one of your medications is causing it, it shouldn't persists long after you discontinue it.
 
Yea im jealous if anything....ive been seeing my doc for MONTHS and he still has me on only .5 mg's 3 times a day(klonopin). Its not taking care of my panic attacks/anxiety and he knows this yet he wont increase my dosage. Its rediculous. Ive self medicated before and know that I need atleast 2.5 mg's a day to take care of my chest pain from anxiety without getting me high or anything.....I just want the pain and attacks to go away...some doc's are SOOOO FUCKING SCARED that the patient will abuse the medication that they will let it impede the actual fixing of the problem. It interferes with the medicating process.
 
Ya I've got a good doc. He understands the pain I am/was going through. I am very optimistic though, working a lot of angles. Think I'll be off meds completely and for good within 6 months (and be the confident ballsy dude I always wanted to be)

But ya man, when I was on .5 initially 3 times a day it did NOTHING. So I ended up just taking triple the amount he prescribed me. Figured 3 days of peace better than 7 days of suffering right? He agreed finally though that I needed a higher dose.
