Is a slimming aid not FDA approved but commonly used by athletes. I'm wondering if anyone knows if it inhibits the reuptake of, or induces the release of dopamine?

It actually has quite a bit in common with bupropion (below) which does inhibit the reuptake, but lacking an a-methyl group, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.

It is rather potent, however, dosages in the low micrograms (50-100ug, 150ug max daily rec). Has the amphetamine analogue been tested? What was it's potency? Was it a catecholamine releaser or DARI?

Has there been more research into the SARs of these sorts of compounds? They don't seem to have anything in common with the PEAs, other than the phenyl ring... Such an oddity. It seems like it could be a starting place for all sorts of unscheduled stimulants with no chance of getting too similar to the CII and CI scheduled stimulants.

I found this: http://pubs.acs.org/cgi-bin/abstract.cgi/jmcmar/2002/45/i19/abs/jm0102093.html

It looks like it's the double bonded nitrogen that's most important, right?

mazindol is not recreational, too slow onset, with a slightly different mode of action to cocaine or the phenyltropanes. not reinforcing in man though it is in monkeys. the structure of mazindol is interesting it can exist in a keto form with the imidazole ring free, after all the structure posted is just the aminal of the ketone.
cocaine analogs by S. Singh, chemical reviews 2000 the paper is online somewhere has a bit dealing with the SAR of mazindol analogues

I certainly didn't find it to be 'pleasant.' Perhaps it could be used for wake-promotion, as it has few peripheral effects. It feels like a strong catecholamine reuptake inhibitor, but lacks the beneficial focusing and attentional effects of methylphenidate. As said, though, in high doses it could probably keep you awake.

LOL, what dose did you take? I was taking 100+mcg daily awhile ago and my hands were shaking so badly for the first week the bank thought I was trying to forge my own signature.
It definitely made it harder to sleep for me. However, if dosed with ketotifen, it allows you to sleep through the shakes (due to the sedating antihistamine action of ketotifen) and it also prevents the down-regulation of beta receptors (which will normally happen after 2 weeks of daily use). This allows you to dose daily for much longer.

I was actually talking about mazindol, not clenbuterol. I've actually never tried clenbuterol. The most noradrenergic stimulant I ever tried was phentermine and I hated it. For something that should have been similar to amphetamine (just another alpha-methyl group away), I thought it sucked ass. Some people think it is useful, so perhaps I was simply disappointed.

No I agree, phentermine sucks.

anyone any experience in using clenbuterol or related substances like salbutamol (= albuterol) for exercise or weight loss?
