Has anyone ever popped an E while listening to Classical? I'm just wondering what its like.
I was watching SBS last night and there was a concert on, big symphony with a mass choir etc
The power and emotion that can come out of something like that can be quite immense.
I can just imagine.... just peaked and 'Ode to Joy' all of sudden booms out.
Quite a diff experiance I could than big beats and trippy visuals

I bet you would get all emotional too if you went to an opera. (hmmm Julia Roberts on E in Pretty Woman?

)heh

Oh get out there and live people....Eing at a club is fun, dancing your B-hind off but there are other places and things to enjoy as well such as:
1) red wine and good company - the intellectual banter is tres stimulating;
2) before going to bed with that special someone or someones;
3) before cleaning the house, it makes things go a lot faster;
4) before or during a work function;
5) before seeing the bank manager for a loan
anyone else......
oh to answer you Qn: Classical is awesome with red wine and the right company....did it on the weekend and at the live symphony at the Myer Music bowl a week after Summadayze (found heaps of candy in the grass!!!)

Soma,
Fantastic isn't it! I tried to explain it to some friends of mine, they just looked down and shook their heads in shame... "poor jaff" they said.
Little do they know!
I love classical also when I have a smoke. (I don't smoke often so its a bit of an occasion for me).

I used to listen to classical in the car when I was coming off whizz. It helped me keep my "I'm-coming-off-speed-you-mother-fucker-my-bongs-at-home-and-I'm-kind-of-in-a-hurry" road rage to a minimum.

Just a quick story on the topic of music and being off your nut...
Last night Raider and I had a funny experience. We'd had a few cones (ok so we were mightily ripped) and were listening to a couple of CDs that a dear friend in the 'States sent us. They are old ('94ish) Jeff Mills releases called WaveForm Transmissions. At first, the CDs were playing in the background, then at some point we both all of a sudden realised (and said at the same time) that the beautiful multilayered minimalistic techno that we were hearing was actually the sounds of thought.
Sounds wierd I know, and I'm stretching now to remember it, but this is how the rationalisation for our idea went. When your brain is working in normal day to day mode, it is quite happy doing the thinking in conscious mode. The brain has the belief that it is in control and no outside influence can force it to think anything it doesn't want to. So, the CD music we were listening to would just sound like nice music. However, in a slightly altered state, we figured that the brain is much more receptive to outside influence, and therefore the techno is much more than just music, but more like a catalyst that allows the brain to revive old memories thought long buried, and create new ones for the future.
Like a couple of little chatterboxes we sat there gabbling away talking about things that neither of us have spoken of for literally years, and Raider actually said "I didn't even know that I knew some of this stuff... it really is true that you remember everything you see and hear". Which was pretty spot on at the time. The music entranced us to the point where the changes in music rhythm and melody actually took us into new topics of conversation (which over a 4 hour period covered quite some ground, I must admit I'm a little amazed myself).
Funny eh?

oh yeah jb: listen to Stravinski rite of spring. Even if your not on anything, it will make you peak. Also Ravel. fwoaaaah

E + N20 + 1st movement of Winter (Vivaldi's Four Seasons) = pure BLISS

The best thing to do when you're nanging is to listen to classical music through headphones...it makes you feel like the instruments are inside your head

Another personal fave is Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture (the music from the crown lager ad from the cinemas)
My bf is obsessed with classical music...he's never been to a concert e'ing, but he had some mushies when we went to see a scottish choir perform Verdi's Requiem and thought it was amazing

If anyone in Perth would like to try e'ing at a classical concert, WASO do "student rush" (how appropriate
wink.gif
) tickets about half an hour before the performance starts. Just present your student card at the booking office in the concert hall and you get a ticket for $12 (crappy seats usually, but still worth it)

The classical station is now programed on the radio in my car!
I was listening to it recently, really really listening and found that classical does for me exactly what progressive trance does. It just builds and builds till it comes to an ultimate climax when ur brain is peekin off its nut!
I found it really good to listen to and enjoyed it immensely.
Anyone up for making Binary Finary 2000 (the classical version)

You guys have no idea how much I love classical music, especially romantic and neo-expressionism. I did a 65 page analysis on Beethoven's 5th symphony. I know that dude back to front now! And jazz as well. Are theri any jazz lovers in the audience?? Anyone up for a trip to Bennetts Lane some time?

*laugh* my oh my (looks up at original post) what sort of pandora's box have I opened

jaff: Debiers!!! bah bahhahahaha. my friends play thier. I hate the fucken place. Sorry, but its a cess pool for horribly drunk sluts. A bit harsh but waddayagonnado

Horse: I haven't been there for ages but since you mentioned sluts (I mean, oppotunists) It might pay to re-visit.

bennets lane? i gotta agree horsye, last time i was there i got into sooo much trouble for daring to speak during some wankers solo... great music, they all just take it a little too seriously...
so are you in the orchestra at VCA?
wink.gif

meth: yup, thats the one.. mm how about a classical room at the rave?
smile.gif

jb: BAH HAHAHAHA. I would love to know who you went and saw. The following is confirmed untrue rumour: some jerkoffs phone went off, so Chaplin (totally awesome, best in melb sax player who also has a really rockin techno band called decoy) stopped the music, grabbed the guys phone and flushed it down the loo and went outside and kicked his ass. He also used to be a taxi driver and carried a 5" blade in the cab. Again, rumour which I believed. Me idiot. lilmonkey makes me look like fool Also, I don't play in the orchestra. Me jazz, love classical but don't play it
