Mental Health Citalopram (Celexa) - just started taking it

I'm diagnosed with depression, anxiety and panic attacks. I just got this new med prescribed to me along with ativan. I felt the celexa the first day I took it. I read a lot of reviews of others feeling this way on the first day as well. My anxiety went away and I was drowsy (who doesn't love that). Just the normal calming feeling and I slept VERY well. It's almost like it gives me energy while at the same time being calm. Normally when I'm awake and on the go, I have almost constant anxiety throughout the day. This medicine might be great for me functioning more so at school.

The only bad effects I've experienced are the nausea and a heightened sense of happiness (don't know if this is bad). I feel like I'm slightly high. I'm assuming these feelings are going to go away after the 2 week period?

Yeah, curious how long you've been taking the ativan? And WHEN do you take it? That is one of the benzos that especially helps with sleep so that is likely what's helping with the sleep? At least just what I can tell from now... could be different.
For just the Celexa, everyone reacts to it differently. I took it for a few days and threw up and was lightheaded and dizzy and passed out. I'm glad it's working better for you. Usually it takes about a month before things start to work "normally". Sometimes the first month is extra "good" (so like you're feeling) and sometimes it's extra "bad" (kinda like how I felt with bad side effects, etc.). Maybe the doctor started you out on a higher dose? But yeah, after a month, that should be what you feel on a more regular basis.

I personally would be happy with just the ativan but that's just me... I find the SSRIs/SNRIs don't always work well and have numerous side effects to go with them. But ativan will kick in right away for sure. That's the point of benzos

I started the ativan the same time as celexa, but only as needed. It definitely calms me down when I start panicking, but its not as debilitating as xanax. I was at 10 mg celexa and it has been a week now (that high feeling went away) so I just now took 20 mg. I'm wondering if that same feeling will come back or no.

I noticed that if I take the pill with a full stomach of food that I don't get that nauseous feeling

How r u doing on the Celexa? Any improvements? What are u taking it for, depression, anxiety, etc?

ive also started taking lexapro, which is similar to celexa from what i understand.

these side effects can really mess you up, i had major dizziness and felt so spinny the first week, couldnt handle it so i halved my dose.

i kinda feel high and out of it right now, hopefully that goes away and i level out a bit soon.

I was on Celexa (citalopram) for almost 4 years to decrease my anxiety, depression and derealization. Worked great for me even though for the first month I was extremely sick - nightmares, sweaty, hot flashes, headaches etc. I would get this weird sensation in my head almost like a tingling feeling, I felt like static. It definitely decrease my anxiety symptoms and I was able to function at a 75%. I was still very anxious but my mind was not racing with thoughts and fears. The downside of SSRI's is weaning off, oh god I would try every year and back to my cave I went. It wasn't until March of this year that I quit completely. I've been clean from medication and substances ever since.
Conclusion - Celexa is great in my opinion, it's the known to be the least damaging

Glad you're doing ok. My mother in law recently went in this med so I looked up on drugs dot com. I wouldn't take it unless there was no other option, and yeah.. I know, that's easy for me to say so no offense intended. The LONG list of side effects scare me. There seems to be a possibility of pretty much anything happening to you if you take this med. I was put on Cymbalta for chronic spinal pain and it worked better than narcotics BUT I got the "ejaculatory disorder". It didn't hurt but well, some things are not worth giving up. Tried Lyrica and it gave me leg cramps.
I hope you do well. I wish the "Man" would just give us marijuana and let us care for ourselves.
