I'd also like to point out that I'm not circumcised and my girlfriend didn't even notice until I told her about it. My penis looks exactly like a circumcised penis when I have an erection. And when I don't have an erection its in my pants and I could care less if it looks like a slufflelupogus.

I was born circumcised. So was my brother. You would swear we have had the chop. I have never known any different. So what is normal?

My little boy, after a lot of thought had it circumcised using the bell ligation method.

EMLA cream for a couple of hours to numb the area, plastic bell and ligature placed, came home, we shared a beer and a bottle in front of the football and he went to bed peacefully. Far more unsettled when he cut a few of his teeth. It obviously stung a bit as I cleaned it with betadine, but no more than when he has had severe nappy rash and I have had to apply some cream.

After a few days it dropped off in his nappy and he hasn't looked back since.

There will always be horror stories what ever the medical procedure you are discussing, just as for every scientific paper for, you will find one against, but from my experience it was safe and atraumatic, and I wouldn't hesitate to have it done to another son.

I don't think its just about the "pain" factor, but more about the ethical issue of performing a serious medical procedure on a human being who cannot decide for themselves. As others have said, an uncircumcised person, if hygienic is just as sanitary and clean as one who has been "snipped".

So at the end of the day, the question that needs to be asked is, what's the point?

there has been some HUGELY UNDEREDUCATED ridiculousness posted in this thread and 90% of it is on one side of the issue. I am baffled by the absurd things some folks here have posted. PLEASE REREAD THE FOLLOWING QUOTED POST (edited down for my preference of eliminating repetition and runonedness) for an overview of the facts of the matter. also note that the most sensitive parts of the shaft are PERMANENTLY (regardless of later attempts to fix) removed from the sex organ and the uncut unit is significantly larger and thus most usually more pleasurable to the partner(s) involved. we are an ignorant species, to be sure, but the things people will do to their own unwilling offspring in the misnomers of health and aesthetics are horrible. sad. very sad.

....[intentional genital disfigurement] is a mutilation and a human rights violation when performed on an infant PERIOD. There is no medical justification for it....The reason this continues is that men in circumcising cultures do not want to face the sickening horrifying truth that when they were helpless infants they were strapped down and against their will their penis was mutilated and there was nothing they could do and they have had to live their whole life not knowing what they could have had. They have an easy choice and a hard choice, they can rationalize it and make themselves believe its a good thing or they can face what was done to them and what they lost. Most choose the first option so they must seek to perpetuate it on their own sons or they would have to face the sick truth. Women who are their lovers and mothers also do not want to face the truth of what happened....When I first saw....the effortless gliding....It was a shocking thing to realize I was....born that way [and] that [the mutilation] was done to me, it was a very hard thing to face....no matter what I would never know that pleasure and normal functioning I was born with....It is a long and excruciating surgery that removes the most sensitive part of the male body and permanently changes the dynamics of masturbation and sex....The amount of tissue removed is actually shocking when you see an intact adult penis....[having a full unit] greatly reduces [problematic excess] friction in vaginal or anal intercourse, and allows masturbation with no need for lube....[it is] difficult to make an informed decision when you don't even know what....you are missing....circumcision should really be called penile reduction....when a serious sexual surgery is done on a unwilling infant it is mutilation and a human rights violation.

^ I'm generally on your side with this issue, but there's as much "ridiculous" information in your post and the post you quoted as there are in the posts you complain about.

It's not a "long and excruciatingly painful" procedure at all. I've seen it done twice. It's painful for a few moments. But so is falling off the bed or running into a door, which happens to infants and toddlers all the time. Focusing on whatever pain is created in the infant is misplaced energy. It's not significant in their lives; it's just hammered by anti-circumcision people because it's an emotional button for parents: "You're causing excruciating pain in your baby!" That's just not true. It can also be done with a topical anesthetic, which would make it much less painful.

It doesn't reduce the size of the penis noticeably. I've seen enough porn to know that it's a very small portion of the erect penis, percentage-wise. It's skin, not the blood chambers.

Look at the poll. The vast majority of circumcised men are completely happy with their penises. The Jews are not a stupid people. If circumcision ruined sex, or overall was squarely a net negative for the man, they wouldn't do it. Sex is important to Jews, and masturbation is not forbidden.

I haven't heard anything on this front, but I personally think the Jews invented circumcision did this to make their children better lovers, when they're young, when it counts. They traded busting in 30 seconds to being able to fuck for hours (and believe me, every stroke is still 100% exquisite, I've been there and missed nothing) when the man is at his prime. Later, when the man is past his prime, the amount of pleasure is reduced but sex is not as important then. I had so much sex when I was younger that I could never have that much for the rest of my life combined. Although I am against it [i.e., circumcision of babies], it still was beneficial for me.

Like you, I don't think it should be done to babies. I think it should be an adult decision unless there's a clear medical necessity. But I am much more reasonable about its effects than those who are outraged about being mutilated and those who would never want to be uncut.

Question for uncircumcised guys....

Is your foreskin back when you have sex/jerk off? Can it be either?

^ Can be either. Wanking with the foreskin back gets sore without lube though - too sensitive. During sex the foreskin tends to pull back naturally. Depends on how long your foreskin is though, I suppose. Mines really quite lengthy (or maybe my todger's just too short :D) which is good for having a tongue poked into and wiggled around :).

Ok, I'm actually a dude, with a 4skin.

Mine goes quite a bit narrower at the front so I can only really peel it back when I've not got a hard on. When I'm hard, I CAN roll it back but then the bit that is usually at the front is FUCKING tight around my dick. So basically, whenever I have sex or jerk off, the foreskin is forward. I just wondered if this was normal?

I've had a couple of girls try and roll it back like before they put a condom on and I have to tell them to leave it.

^ I've known quite a few people in that situation - I think it's actually quite common. Rather ironically, I think circumcision is the only "cure".

If it bothers you maybe you should speak to your doctor to see if something less drastic can be done to loosen it? I know it's a bit embarrassing but it's nothing they haven't seen before. If it's painful then a snip may be a good option.

I'm no fan of circumcision for the sake of it (especially on children for which I genuinely consider to be mutilation - would you guys hack off a sensitive part of your daughter's vulva? I seriously doubt it) but for medical reasons it's another matter entirely.

If it doesn't bother you then I'd leave well alone as it shouldn't be any particular problem. We're all just built differently :).

Agreed... Ladies, do you think it's acceptable to cut off the clitoral hood to make the vagina look cleaner? No. Bottom line about circumcision: It is an entirely unnecessary surgery. If anything, it actually decreases a man's sensitivity during sex, decreases the size of the penis, etc. As stated earlier in this thread, if someone bathes like a normal human being, there is literally no benefit I can see (other than social acceptance for U.S. and some other countries'/cultures' residents). Chopping off part of your sexual organs? No thanks! I am uncircumcised and have never had a complaint from a girl, ever. I guess they could just be being polite, but I don't think so. Just my $.02

dude just practice that. my parents taught me to practice when i was 3 and now its not like nothing. infact it rolls back quite easily on its own when i get an erection or even a semi. i dont even have to do it myself anymore.

Sorry but this is some bullshit.

I would like for you to try an experiment to demonstrate that it is FAR from painless to cut a part of your penis off. Simply take a very sharp object like a razor blade and cut a VERY small incision anywhere near the head of your penis. Go ahead and try that shit. It is unlike any other pain there is because of the number of nerve endings clustered in that region. You can feel the stabbing IMMENSELY sharper/clearer and more potent than any other pain sensation there is.

Falling off the bed my ass. Its like having a nail driven into your brain.

The only reason the baby probably gets through the pain so quickly is because it is sent past its pain threshold and the brain responds to the incredible physical/mental trauma by inducing some kind of psychotic break to deal with the experience. This kind of trauma so soon after coming into the world cannot be a healthy experience for the developing mind.

Seriously though try cutting your dick and see how it feels. Imagine the entire foreskin being cut off. Give me a fucking break it makes me want to vomit thinking about how agonizing that would be.

^ The foreskin is not the same as the head of the penis, any more than the clit hood is the same as the clitoris. Try pinching the hood of your girlfriend's clitoris, then pinch the clitoris itself. See the difference in her reaction?

(Edited to add: The skin around the head is sensitive, but not exquisitely so. I've fucked my dick raw many times, and also have accidentally cut my dick a couple of times while trimming. It's painful, but not like you describe.)

Furthermore, circumcision can be done with anesthetic.

Before you call bullshit, get more facts. I'm sure your imagination serves you well in many instances, but it can't be relied on for this subject.

I may have to be circumsised due to medical reasons, but I don't really want to be. I'm aware of all the benefits and disadvantages, and was wondering if anybody had been in the same situation, of not wanting to, but having to be circumsised. I'm guessing it will hurt, but i'm more interested in the loss of sensation. If anybody has any experience with this situation their views would be much appreciated.

Why do you have to be circumcised? Unless you'll say why, people won't be able to give you alternatives.

I have only been with one guy who was uncircumsized. It was basically a one night stand. Whenever he took it out, I was pretty apprehensive at first because I hadnt seen many penises, much less an uncircumsized penis at that. When it wasnt hard, it was actually really weird looking. I was honestly kind of scared to touch it. I didnt really know how to quite go at it or if there was anything special I was supposed to do with it. So, I kind of blindly just went for it and as we started going at, after while I pretty much forgot about it. The sex was good. I dont really think him being uncircumsized really made much of a difference in that area. It just looks kinda weird. LOL when I told my friends about it, we all made fun of him behind his back for a while and he got pissed at me. Still, it was worth it. I would do it again.

No you don't need to treat an uncircumsised dick any differently to a cut one - they are the same thing but one has a bit missing is all. It only looks "weird" because of what you're used to and what the fuck is the "making fun of him behind his back" about? Seriously, there is no need for that kind of nasty childishness surely?

I'd say you need to be a little more gentle with the head.
