Hello everyone,

This is sort of a weird question, but I've been smoking for about 4 years and for some reason I began spitting whenever I smoked outside. I never considered this a big deal but recently (within the past few months) whenever I smoke now, I begin so salivate (sp?) to the extreme. When I'm inside I have to actually find a trash can or somewhere to spit, the idea of swallowing it makes me sick, even though when I'm not smoking I don't mind it. It's like when I smoke my mouth begins to water and pretty soon I have a mouth full of saliva. Has anyone else experienced this? I know this doesn't sound like a big problem, but I mean it's like all the sudden I've taken a big drink of saliva. Just wondering if I'm some kind of freak of nature or if this is common in some people or something. Maybe it's time to quit.
 
Cigarettes (or tobacco, or smoke) do make your mouth salivate, sometimes a lot. It's really common, but then again so is dry mouth. Guess you're just lucky?

Also I'm glad this really isn't about salvia.
 
Have you gotten your wisdom teeth pulled any time recently ? I'm a regular smoker and once i got my wisdom teeth pulled my mouth tends to salivate heavily now during any kind of smoking.
 
i dont smoke cigs but i used to have that problem with marijuana. every hit would cause my mouth to fill with saliva and i couldn't stand to swallow it either. it was really annoying cause i often didn't have convenient places to spit. luckily, it doesn't anymore though. it was always worse with shwagg than with dank.
 
I have this prob too whenever I light up (Rather infrequently, but hey, when offered, dont look a gift horse in the mouth) but tobbaco makes you salivate. It's why all those MLB guys are always spitting when chewing tobacco.

Cut back though, it might ease it off a bit.
 
Thanks for the info everyone, and I considered posting in Health Q&As but I considered this to be more of a non harmful side effect of an 'Other Drug' sort of like people asking if other people feel a certain side effect from pharmys here.
