So I was wondering if it is better for my health to smoke additive free tobacco with or without a filter. I had always thought filters benificial but i read somewhere (can't find source srry) that the fiberglass in the filters does considerable damage.

There is no fiberglass in cigarette filters, it's a myth. It's usually cellulose acetate.

On one hand, you might smoke less unfiltered, since you get more nicotine. But it's been my experience that filtered cigarettes are easier on the lungs and not noticeably less potent. Tobacco's still bad for you, no matter how you take it.

I have heard that the filter is just as bad if not worse for you. I have this buddy whos grandpa has smoked unfilterd camels since he was 12. He is still kicking with no health problems, could just be lucky. I know a couple people who actually tear the filter out before they smoke it. IMO those smokes with those poppable menthol beads in them are worse then smoking a unfilterd ciggerrete.

I LOL'd ^.^

Some people have good genes, and can withstand a life of chemical abuse. There is no doubt about it, filters Greatly reduce tar and, ehm, other stuff... yea I'm not gonna get a source for that.

I did find one documented hazard associated w/ cotton filters: Inhalation of the material into the lungs...Rare, but it happens... Just use common sense when smoking, and you should be grooovy.

PS> This is coming from someone who enjoys unfiltered hand rolled organic cigs over filtered (taste wise). If you're gonna roll your own )hella cheaper!) then get a pack of cotton filters, and treat you're lungs to a slower death (of cillia)!
