Cigarette filters and THC

OK so this morning i lost my pipe, i had to find a quick way to smoke because i was late for work, so i decided i would take out about 1/3 of a cigarette's tobacco by rolling it in my fingers, and packing some weed in the tip. Now i've done this before but only when I didnt have papers and i would take out ALL of the tobacco and rip off the filter at the tip, but I just couldnt smoke a whole joint to the face, nor did i want to waste more weed than was necessary for one session, so I left the filter on and just smoked it that way. Right now i'm defenitely high (etremely good quality buds) but my question is; does a cigg filter, filter any/some of the THC or does it only filter the tar?

(sorry for the long post, i thought this was the only way to thoroughly explain the process)
 
in my experience - putting a filter in a joint just the same as if i were rolling a cigarette has no massive effect on the potency of the joint. I think alot of that whole don't put a filter on thing comes from purists who say you've gotta roll with a roach. i do the same thing as what you are describing when i'm partying hard (i'm a reformed pot smoker who still has the occaisional puff) and it's still knocks me the same as if i were to have say a half-cone/equivalent in a roached ciggie

A significant amount of THC is going to stick to the cigg filter, yes. Cannabinoids are extremely sticky, they stick to a filter very easily.
 
Just so i clear this up, im not talking about a hallow filter, or a filter made of paper. I'm talking about a REAL ciggarette filter, the types that are made out of fibers, like on a Marlboro Light, or a Parliament Light.
 
i have definitly done both cigg adaptation for weed smokage methods you speak of ( did that sound high to anyone else...)

andi have definitly gottenhigh from both ways of cigg/weed smokin

i wouldnt recomend it all the time, but in a fix, its a convienient buzz

if THC can stick to things like fibers on your shirt of even more bud and make the bud more potent then it will stick to a "FILTER" i mean weeds sticky and thats a filter hint hint
 
Sometimes i think it gets me even higher... but i think tahts cuz i always pack it hard into a cig. If it makes a difference, its not a big one. Plus its easier to hold; my friend always takes out the filter and its so hard to smoke
 
ah man. i have the same story here. i take out like 1/3 of the tobacco and pack it with weed. and i have to say... it works amazing and sometimes i think i get even higher that way.

Same as eating resin, only this time you're eating a filter as well. Pretty stupid idea to eat plastic man, nevermind eating resin.
 
Learn to roll joints, and/or buy a rolling machine or new pipe. Or better yet a waterbong.

All would be more efficient and easier, albeit more expensive.

Good investments for any pot-smoker^

There was a study on erowid that claims that bongs filter out nearly as much or more THC than they filter out tar.. I'd look it up but I don't have time right now.

Often when using a cigarette filter, they rip out a part of the foam to make it less thick. I never managed to roll a proper joint that way, though. I'm used to having a hard feeling roach, not something soft like a filter.
 
In Morocco, most of the local dealers I met in Chef Chouen and other villages around the Rif Mountains, all used to make joints using a Marlboro filter as a roach. However they did used to roll the filter back and fourth a bit to make it more loose. Also their dope was:

1. Abundant
2. Cheaps as chips... nay cheaper
3. Fucking strong!

Still it made for a very nice spliff!

Technically, THC is tar. All the THC that doesn't end up in your bloodstream, anyway. Tar just means the viscous black stuff left over from burning organic matter, and if that organic matter was weed then it will have THC in it. The filter will collect everything in the tar including THC.
 
A cig filter would deffinately decrease potency much. Haven't tried it, but judging by the amount of resin on my pipe, it is deffinately too sticky to go through a filter.

I think it would make more sense to say THC is in tar, rather than it is tar. Tar also has the chemicals created by combustion and other cannabinoids as well.

well i have all of those things, but as i stated i lost my pipe for the day and it wasnt really an option to smoke a whole joint or even to roll one because i was in a rush to get to work, i'd actually prefer a vaporizer over any type of smoking device, its just so pure and beautiful....yay for vaporizers lol. anyways i was just curious and thought to make this topic in case anyone else ever has this question. thanks for the help!
 
Btw, for anyone interested, the unfiltered joint is still the best thing to use (apart from a vaporizer ofcourse) if you want to be efficient in your THC:tar ratio, according to a MAPS study.
