ok ive been smoking for a while, but recently started smoking with some new bro's and everytime we get high together, he eats chocolate kiss's and he says it boosts his high, also some of his friends agree with it also....

any regards?

I mean... it's possible. Chocolate has small amounts of caffeine as well as theobromine and phenethylamine. By small amounts I mean almost negligibly small, or at least to the point at which they're not going to produce easily noticeable psychoactive effects in most humans.

Everyone's different, but I'm pretty sure your friend is just getting a placebo effect. I enjoy eating shitloads of chocolate while I'm high (don't we all) but I've never felt a "boost" of any kind, besides maybe ecstasy due to the flavors I experience.

I don't think they're experiencing anything remarkable... but on the other hand, it's food while you're high. That's a "boost" in and of itself.

I actually read in some article about chocolate and making the weed more potent, but I think it was with dark chocolate. I don't know though, all I know is food is amazing while high.

I suppose he's just saying it 'boosts' his high because it doesn't make it more intense, but makes being high all the better because he is enjoying the chocolate so much.

I have never heard of using chocolate to potentiate your high and I doubt it works.
But if you get a caramel filled kiss and eat it with a peanut butter kiss it's god damn amazing...

dark chocolate definitely has a stimulating effect. i eat tons of 88% chocolate and that shit keeps me buzzing all night. there's no way i could sleep that day

maybe he eats a lot of chocolate and/or is sensitive to its effects

Course, you could do the same thing with just about 1 or two Red Bulls. Or something that tastes better. (Coffee, coca cola, rockstar, energy drinks galore...)
It's nothing special about chocolate+weed as much as its a caffeine+other stimulants in chocolate dealy-o. I can catch a buzz off of a big cup of coffee, regardless of whether or not I'm high. (I probably wouldn't notice it if I was high)

the known psychoactive effect of caffeine is dissociation.. caffeine has always killed the cannabis high for me, even with some of the best medical around... i'm not sure why. i just start to feel awake and sober afterwards

the known psychoactive effect of chocolate is increased sense of well-being.. and since dark chocolate and cacao contain many fatty acids, it's far from inconcievable that combined with cannabis they could potentiate or synergize certain effects of both... physically, they're both vasodilators as well

i could see this happening more readily with hash brownies and such, tho

EDIT: just found this short abstract on chocolate+cannabis...

Marijuana and chocolate
by
James JS.
AIDS Treat News. 1996 Oct 18;(No 257):3-4.

ABSTRACT
AIDS: Three substances in chocolate and cocoa powder may mimic cannabinoid by activating receptors or increasing anandamide levels. Anandamide is a lipid that binds to cannabinoid receptors and mimics the psychoactive effects of the drug. Chocolate is widely believed to enhance the effect of marijuana. A practical implication of this finding is that the amount of marijuana needed for medicinal purposes may be decreased by using it with chocolate, reducing both the risks and cost associated with marijuana.

technically yes it will improve your high.. but to the amount drinking like half a mountain dew would. its just a placebo.

you get more of a high just by the delicious taste when you gots the munchies :)

Saw something along these lines too, in some high times type magazine. The consensus was that even if chocolate had some weed-like effect, the amount you would have to eat to get an appreciable effect was in the order of kilograms... so, yeah, I would tend to agree with the people saying it's a placebo thing.

Of course, the converse is clearly true -- pot potentiates chocolate... the munchies...

Yup there are a couple substances in chocolate that could do it, but anandamide being the one im guessing what people are guessing would be synergistic. Youd have to eat like 25 pounds of chocolate to get anywhere near the effects of cannabis, so ive read. It didnt state whether that was high or low percentage chocolate. Obviously convenience store chocolate has very little actual cacao in it.

Yeah, its weird but I noticed that shroom bars with milk chocolate feel slightly different than straight shrooms, I guess with chocolate it can be said to be more 'clear'.

i think it has more to do with the reward factor you have in your mind with you thinking that if you eat this chocolate you are gonna get more high and then you just think you get more high when you eat it..
