Hi, for everyone who knows this rare drug, does anyone know what PH value it has in it's pure form in a say 1g chlorobutanol per 10g h2o solution. And does anyone know (I know it's used as a preservative for IV preperations, I want to know if it's worth it, though I doubt anyone ever tried it) if it can be IV'd (with good effects)? For those of you who don't have the slightest idea what this is, and want to know but can't be fucked to look it up, it is a chemical similar to chloral hydrate, it was used in a few sleeping aids and as a general and local anaesthetic in the 40s-late50s, it is now used as a local anaesthetic and as a food preservative. It has a camphorous odor and is used at a dose between 0.2g and 1g.

Chlorobutanol IV? And PH value

Shit, sry wasn't thinking straight yesterday (think it was yesterday), chlorobutanol is NOT an Ionic compound and there for cannot have a PH value, I guess what I meant is, what is a safe PH value for oral administration (the IV was just a question out of curiosity).
Thank god nobody saw my last post and read the mistake before I could correct it (this also gives me a chance to bumb my thread). Non ionic compounds can have a PH, the PH depends on the hydroxyl group (alkali) or the ability to form hydronium ions (H3O+, acidic). I actualy remembered what I wrote on chlorobutanol and I wrote my mistake on chlorobutanol. It's actualy a pretty kickass sedative at 1.5g-3g. It's also realy cheap. The PH based on my test was 6-7 but chlorobutanol has low solubility in water and is there for not suited for injection. If anyone has any information or SIMPLE experience or property related questions please post them on this thread.
