Child eats mom's LSD-coated candy

^^Let me find a pic of it, you could probably find her on myspace.com, and if you see a picture, you will understand;)

Remember the haloween costume from super troopers?? She looks sort of like that

Sorry but I find this hilarious. They're ready to put the lady away for up to 25 years and she wasn't even dealing when she was caught. It's so funny how parents who let their kid hit the blunt or who might be careless once get pummeled like this but all the parents who let completely reckless parties happen at their houses and even supply teenagers with high proof liquor fly under the radar. Really, lets weigh this out. Kids having a little experience with drugs VS kids being lined up for alcoholism in their adolescence. Don't get me wrong. I'm not one of the legalization people because I think that drugs in the hands of the majority of people is a very bad idea. It'd be great if most people would be able to smoke up and NOT drive but we have enough DUI crashes with alcohol alone. But this is just ridiculous.

Why does everyone have sympathy for her? The same harsh rules of the universe that got the kid to accidentally eat the acid got the dumbitch in jail. Simple as that, it's karma. As egor's brother prophecied.

I don't feel sympathetic for her. The dumb bitch should not have left drugs in CANDIES in places where her daughter could have found them. I just think that its ridiculous that she's getting nailed to the cross so-to-speak and other parents who essentially do much worse things fly under the radar because its slightly more "socially accepted"

I heard a story of a guy who had some lsd on crackers. His two kids ate one, or some (I'm not sure). The dad chilled with the kids, played with them, the trip ended, the kids are fine.

Acid is not a bad thing. I would say it is more hardcore for an adult to eat acid than a kid. The reasoning behind this is that adults have so many more issues to deal with, while kids simply don't. I do think this woman is an idiot. Not worthy of 25 years, but definitely an idiot.

I see your point otb01. But one of the reasons those things go under the radar (besides acid being demonized) is that they're so common (i.e. drunken abuse). These people whose kids eat acid they leave around (on crackers!? on candies!?) are crazy...and obviously, their kids will be too.
I see the logic of acid not being so harmful to "pre-persons" but it's still bullshit that acid is harmless.
For the record, I do feel sorry for the wookie.

At least she didn't bake him in an oven while she was spacing out :\ . No one here knows the kind of trauma that acid could do to a baby. Acid is far too powerful and unpredictable to give to a child. Remember also that the baby is very small and would take smaller amounts of drugs to get effects. Half a hit could make an adult trip and this kid took 2 full ones. He could grow up schizophrenic, with anxiety problems and HPPD. It doesn't make sense to act like a baby's mind is a big sandbox to play in with no lasting consequences. The baby's brain is forming together its own concept of existence. You think LSD might make that a little difficult?

P.S. Someone please photoshop a wookie and a baby chimp together to form a wookie baby for the thread...

Y'know that's so true... I mean it would be hard not to do that if you were like, really fucked, y'know?

Obviously, it was irresponsible of the mother to leave the candies lying around with a 2 year old in the house. I doubt anyone will argue with that.

Equally obviously, to me at least, this sentence is NOT an example of the war on drugs being "right." I challenge anyone who believes that to explain to me exactly how having the mother locked up will help this child, or anyone else.

Legal consequences should be tailored to prevent further harm to people, not to exact revenge.

The mother also made a ton of mistakes. Hospital? Bad idea (sad as that is... what's wrong with our country when taking a 2 year old to the hospital has to be politicised?). Cover story involving distribution? TERRIBLE idea. If you get caught with drugs in the US, you WILL be vulnerable to possession charges, unless you can whip out a DEA Schedule I license or something (and they've issued what, like 5 of those ever?). Don't make it worse for yourself by throwing in some extra felonies.

It's sad because parents do things much worse accidentally to their kids and get off. The war on drugs has really gone too far.

Not that I'm a big proponent for the US drug laws or anything.... but seriously.. this chick is obviously not responsible enough to be raising a child, and if this was the last child she would have, then maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but you know how it is with these types, once you pop, the fun don't stop...

Couldn't they abort the trip with an anti psychotic or tranquilizer the child at a hospital though.

Its a tough decision, but if it was your child im sure wed all be scared shitless and want our child to be in the best hands, which may or may not have been doctors.

Wow... That's crazy
I do agree it was a pretty stupid thing to do, but I'm pretty sure the women freaked out a lot.. And I can see the love for the kid though, doing anything to get her help.. But there would of always been better decision
Also... Probably it was for the best too..
I feel bad for the kid... Innocent, eating candy.. Then boom... Ending up in hospital with strangers, probably having to stay in another family.. While your mom ended up in jail.. rough scene.

There is nothing that can abort a LSD trip, only thing you can do is administer some valium if someone is freaking out. I wouldn't want to give anti-psychotics to a small child, that shit is nastier then LSD.

LSD at the doses sold for consumption is non-toxic, there is no need for panic.
Children lack guilt and paranoia over drug use and in general have less negative experience to draw on, they also have an abundance of magical thinking and lack of belief structures.

I can guarantee her mom freaking out screaming and trying to induce vomiting, and then taken to the hospital and all the commotion there and her mom being arrested and then placed with a foster family had a 1000% greater chance of making this childs first LSD trip negative then if her mom had just smiled and said tell you what lets spend the day together just you and me.

And the extreme nagative reaction of a lot of bluelight posters reveals how much negative stigma drugs still have even to their users.

Wow she doesn't need to have children "My dealer sold em this candy acid lets leave it in the candy dish and then leave my child alone with a quarter pound of pot while we go out and make even bigger whores of ourselves."

Sorry but that chick is stupid, violating probation having a quarter pound of pot. C'mon there might be people who keep qps for personal use but most people with 4 ounces of pot are small time dealers lookin to make a quick hundred and smoke for free, was it worth it?.

That would work great for teenagers but if you consider that many of those work at 1 mg doses for full grown humans and then you have a two year old... Yeah. Hard to do.

The point is she's too fucking retarded to something like that.
It wasn't the authorities that forced her to be an idiot. They just do what they always do, make an example of deviants.
