Child drugs linked to heart attack

it's a well known fact that amphetamines are cardiotoxic, and it's only logical that freak accidents will occur in a small percentage of children who take these drugs who are otherwise prone to heart defects exacerbated by use of these drugs.

It's easy to point the finger at drug companies, but they are open and honest about the side effects of these drugs. Where the real blame lies in my mind is from doctors and parents who neglect to have the proper ECG's performed on their children to insure their cardiac health while consuming these medications. These conditions are treatable, and the neglect to do so cannot be blamed on the companies which produce these chemicals.

Just my two cents.

Being a 32 year old ADHD guy who has been on Ritalin 60mg a day for 20 years I can tell you two things..

1) I don't understand how people can abuse it, I just feel more focused when I take it. I've stopped for maybe 4 months no withdrawls. I've even tried snorting it once but just seemed to bind my nose up and the focus effect lasted a shorter time.

2) Went to a Cariologest for a 30 year checkup and no damage was found.. heck, I use to drink a 12 pack of beer a day in college and smoked non-filters until I was 28.. no problems.

I think that if a parent puts a 5 year old on ADD ADHD meds just because they can't parent then the blame is all on them.. Parents should protect their kids. If I ever have a kid and the doc prescribes something I'll be on RXlist first thing..

Who the hell gives Amphetamines to a 6 year old?

It's more often than not to find relatively young children heavily medicated on Ritalin and Dexedrine. Actually, back in the day it was pretty much the only two options. I know I started Ritalin 'therapy' at the age of 5, which then continued for 13 years. End result? Essentially a stimulant-induced hell. To add insult to injury, it turns out I wasn't even an ADD case.

Why the fuck are doctors prescribing amphetamines and ritalin to five year olds? Jesus Christ, that's just wrong on so many levels.

Amphetamines are the wewt.

I was on adderall when I was younger (I'm going to guess from like 12-14 maybe) and I stopped using the medication myself, after realizing it was bullshit. I honestly felt like it made me a different person, so I just stopped.
