Question: if 18 healthy chickens consumed nearly a pound of mouldy old cannabutter would the eggs they produced the next day test positive for THC?
To be clear - this was not some sick experiment, but rather an oversight after clearing out a couple of fridges of expired foodstuff. There are more moving parts as to how, but in the end they scoffed the lot before the penny dropped. It was late afternoon and they hung out in the shade, afterwards, albeit quietly. No wobbling, weaving or erratic behaviour, but plenty of trips to drink water. 30 minutes later they moved as one to their feeding point and pigged out on their grain. Munchies...? More drinking. They bedded down with less bitching than usual though one missed curfew and got locked out by the night door. Next day back to normal, all laying and looking none the worse. Eggs collected and set aside in the fridge.
I've tried a few web searches and most articles discuss fresh green, low THC/CBD leaf as being ok as a supplement, but there isn't much I could find to answer my query about the effects of cannabutter or concentrates on poultry or their eggs. Anyone out there have a sensible answer?

Hahah... not where I come from. The very thought of psychoactive eggs would freak everyone out, but I also can't imagine the topic hasn't been discussed somewhere else before., There is a 'yes/no answer out there somewhere. that eludes me. I'm willing to wait a few more days for someone knowledgeable in the field to post fact from fallacy, otherwise I'll just have to take a punt and go an omelette to find out.

I wonder if it was excreted decarbed or not. I bet it wasn't, meaning you should scramble them with some good heat, and then eat it maybe!
If it was in butter it was probably decarbed before they ate it.

I bet if you slaughtered and cooked the chicken the meat would get you high too.

Actually I'd have higher hopes for that than the eggs. THC is stored in the lipids so the skin would be the dankest part.

There is a business opportunity here.

I bet you could decarb diamonds, emulsify it and put it in the water that the animal drinks, though it's undeniably unethical. You can always just slaughter the animal as normal, then add the THC "in post".

Decarbed hi-end bud crumble was used to make the butter and this block was shoved up the back of the fridge and somehow forgotten about. Since no learned individuals have chimed in I'm reading up on omelette recipes. Recipes welcome. Problematic though, from a control POV, as I'd have to go clean for a subjective response. In the end, I think I'll cope, but it would be good to know one way or another.

Imo, save part of whatever you cook to get somebody who doesn't use cannabis regularly to eat, and then hit them with a piss test and see if it pops for THC.

Boxing day omelettes were enjoyed (no kids partook) and nobody spun out. Better yet, all got home safely (avoiding roadside testing) so I'm relieved but still no closer to clarity on the original question. My country has a hard No! policy on drug driving so we're conditioned to think twice before getting behind the wheel after enjoying any of a long list of substances. And because it loiters a long while in the system Cannabis is the most problematic drug to manage, consequence-wise, with no exemptions for a positive test at the roadside, medically prescribed or not.
In any case, I don't reckon the chickens will ever get another pound of budder to yomp. At least not intentionally

Finally got around to reading this thread after eyeballing it for a few days now, then went to say how its unlikely the THC passed into the eggs in any substantial amount if at all. But then I saw you had already found out lol. Nevermind. Did the eggs taste like pot at least? Haha
