Hey, I'm new. From Chicago. Just wanted to say hi. Mostly just reading and hanging out, but may chime in on occasion if that's ok with you guys.
Cheers!

Hi NT!
I was snooping around because I have a tiny benzo problem that has expanded outwards into other things like heroin. i have so much nervous energy and need to calm myself down (who doesn't, right!?)
Anyway, I was doing a search and bluelight popped up in regards to Chicago. Looked so interesting: lots of threads, topics, different stuff. One can never get bored around here! You guys look like a nice community. But looks can be deceiving! LOL The pill people communities are creepy. I promise not to say too much or to little. I hope that's cool.

Hi CH,
I do enjoy living in Chicago. People are really cool, basically. I was out for a walk last night and ran into a bunch of "crazy" street people (not really crazy, but artsy and interesting) - one guy painted my picture and we had a drink on the corner. It was fun. I used to be a bartender in the area where I live so people know me and are respectful, considering I am a single woman. The dudes look out for me. However, watching families and kids wearing their Kansas State sweatshirts in a gentrifying area of the "hood" makes me nervous. People think that because an area is now expensive and cool means that it's safe. It's not. It's more dangerous than it was 10 years ago. Does that make sense? But I'm from around here so it's different.
I lived in a really crap area of London for a while back in the mid 1990's and it was really nice, I thought - but then again, I'm from Chicago - as long as you stay out of their way, they're not shooting at you. They might HIT you, but they didn't mean it. (joke).
I'm rambling. Coming down from an all nighter. Just couldn't get anything to work on me, drugwise. My tolerance is insane.
How am I doing so far?

I would taper off of benzos if possible, and consider natural ways to reduce anxiety. Especially eating well, exercise, and drinking plenty of water. Magnesium supplements are especially important.

If you have high blood pressure, then getting on blood pressure medication may be your best bet (in combination with the aforementioned tips).

I hope you are doing welll otherwise, and I am always here so you can PM me if you want to talk 1 on 1. :)
