I just read this entire thread, heh... I used to hit up the fireside bowl every weekend when I was in high school, like 14 years ago now (getting old!)... They'd always have good local bands (Slapstick, 88 fingers, etc etc), and good national bands coming thru.

Is there even a spot to check out punk shows now? I'm pretty much out of that whole scene but I still like going and checking bands out and having a drink or ten.

I just moved back from AZ in early 2009. The black tar out there is fuckin fire, but now I'm used to getting bags just like back in the day. Got a regular dude who hooks up supermans, also got a guy who does a g of raw for not much more than a jab. Been fucking around w/ crack now too, after a couple times of getting ripped off, I let my main dude know I was looking and he hooks me up now. I def miss the weed in AZ, miss getting heady nugs of all kinds of weed w/o even looking, but I guess that's just the benefit of having good friends and good connects.
 
Hey Subflict, I've been going to punk shows in Chicago for 20 years or so. There are some cool places to check out shows like Reggies, Bottom Lounge and Beat Kitchen.

I've heard of Reggies before, just checked out their website... this weekend it's nothing but a metallica cover band, but next weekend it's 88 fingers and <gasp> the bollweevils! I think i'm going to have to check that out, thanks a lot.

I think the fireside is still there, but they renovated it and people actually bowl there now. I could be mistaken, but they're gone just the same for show purposes. I miss the days of seeing the crustiest bands in the chi in that dirthole, heh.

Reggies is a really cool place to check out bands. They have a pretty decent bar next door that serves decent food.
I haven't been to the Fireside since they stopped doing shows. I heard they cleaned the place up a bit.
 
Maybe you should edit your post geek, so you don't get banned for sourcing. I don't know how strict they are on the rules here bud. =)

wiki says fireside is back to being a bowling alley and i suppose the vince vaughn/ jen aniston movie had something to do with it..and they got lucky with it b/c the movie prolly fixed up the bowling alley then gave them a bunch of cash too..so they didnt really have to put up any money to renovate it, ya know?

i mean the place was a dump and would have took more money then what the place is worth to bring it back and then hollywood comes calling and its like hittin the lottery..not only do they fix it for you, they are gonna give you some cash on top of it..
 
Just wondering, how do all of you peeps who aren't working get your scrilla? I mean I know junkies are notorious for pulling scams and stealing from their families and shit but I don't really do that shit. So if I'm broke, no dope. Not to single anyone out. But I saw like chinky say you haven't worked in a hot minute but still are able to make the trip and cop dope several times a week. I mean maybe you have money saved from when you did work, but as dope fiends, we know how fast and easy it is to spend cash on that shit.
 
I was always able to get cash, though not always legally and never smart.



Basically, if you get hooked hard enough, you will do whatever you need to do to keep the sick off.


But we aren't here to talk about those illegal ways. Find some odd jobs or something.

Phantom, I'm pretty much the same, if I don't have money, I don't get high. I'm done w/ pawning all my shit and scamming family, etc. I have a stash of suboxone though (obtained legally), so I'm okay if I don't have any. I probably do it every other week, or at least three days on three off so my w/d's aren't too horrible.
 
well it is know that i got a arrested a couple months back for something kinda serious i guess, i dunno...should give a clue to my previous occupation

So, what is, in your humble opinion, the best "stamp"/foil floating around recently in Chi-Town? I received some solid Carolina Blue bags the other day that were a decent 8/10, but I'm like to hear from y'all as well.
 
for me easiest way to cop some shit when funds was low was do a favor for someone and get tossed something for my time

i aint been out of south but round the area mentioned in south loop (i dont call it south loop really but Chinatown area) to a lil ways more south and way way way out south in the 150s...fuck the south side tho it dont make sense to go there if u white most likely you live on the north side...or west burbs or north burbs so its almost always closer to hit up the wild wild west...even if i aint getting blowed out its nice to ride ((blah blah i cant say streets))) just to see the action and peep the bustdowns and blast some mixtapes up out my JL audio joints...but purty much fuck the south side, fuck the white sox
