Sorry for my ignorance about the effect/reason for chewing (instead of swallowing) your med of choice. I see benzo, oxy, etc are just some that people chew. Gross. I mean addies are sweet...but still gross. Do is work faster or last longer? Or is the meds so goooood we wanna chew it, lick it, feel it, hear it, rub it on our bodies. You get the idea. Let me know...Mrs Up for 26 hours now

Its simply to make the drug work quicker. Some meds like benzos can be taken sub-lingually ie. By placing under the tonuge and leaving it to dissolve. This causes it to take effect quicker and peak in effects quicker, a useful advantage if your having a panic attack.
Hope that helps.

I always chew my benzo's, I love the taste of them.

Opioids on the other hand 8(

I think you (I) associate the taste with that sweet, sweet feeling. To anybody else, it would all taste like buttacos.

there is a harm reduction reason for this

if they're taking their meds sublingually - it's liver protection, although it may be a trade off, sub-lingual may be damaging to teeth, gums or tongue
liver failure is one of the most agonizing ways to go out 'naturally'

unless their doctor prescribes these meds specifically be be taken orally, full tablet - i don't think people who choose this route of administration are abusing/misusing them in any way, unlike insufflation

^ Thank you for posting that information. I never connected the dots between the two somehow, but I assume that it would only matter if someone had a compromised liver.

i never swallow.

and dissolving tablets taste like candy, i mean drugs.

and when reading the thread, on the harm reduction note, it may be better to swallow, i worry about my gum.

I chewed on Dihydrocodeine today as I had no drink to take it with... eughw!

Your the man mate!!I trust Ben (Bunge... Sorry buddy haha) with any question I may have. Very knowledgeable and a wonderful friend! He is right about it sub-ling hitting u quicker. Not to argue mate but wouldn't it give the horrible taste for longer than wanted? Perhaps maybe parachute the meds so u may not have a bad taste. Haha I usually break into fours and take a small sip of a drink don't swallow it and put the choice meds in your mouth then swallow. Hits within 15 mins. I mean if u want instant results. CWE. But it tastes... Great *lmao*

Bunge.. seen you haven't been active like me on here since we started chatting on the phone. Found this as your latest post so thought id team up with u like we'd talked about. But anyways! We need to discuss our gift exchange some more! I already got your coke and sloppy Joe stuff today we want to get you more though and something for Ms. Maisie!! Give me a ring and have the missus set up Skype!! She told me and the wife if you do it then it will take days or weeks Hahaha I'll have to call Doc Brown and go to the future!!!! Bahaha talk to you soon my friend.

Kev

There's no advantage of chewing or sucking on your medications unless the bioavalibility is higher sublingually or bucally.

I've often seen these words used interchangeably, is there a difference between sublingually and bucally?
