hmmmmm , that is a shame that you not a happy camper at the chems set in syd. me was in melb and it was a-grade. yeah haeps of their hip hop beats , but still mighty fine. basementjaxx were a more fun set , but the chems were incredible (the sound and visuals) ........... if only i could get my hands on the complete 100min set......at leats i managed to get it down on md (only 45 freaking minutes tho')

Boikah, learn to bob yer head man!! You don't need to dance all the time, do ya? heh heh

I saw the chems at both Sydney & Adelaide BDO's - both similar sets, both very funky & danceable in the right places. Although the encore at Adelaide was very much on the ambient side (wierd. They finished the set with some absolutely stompin' beats, then come back out & do a come down encore...)
I agree with eggman - the visuals were incredible.
Seeya,

i say, "each to their own"

there was a lot of debate in 3D after the BDO concerning the CHEM's set in sydney... ppl saying it was shite, and ppl saying otherwise
which is cool, cause i can see why ppl might be pissed off @ their performance there.
i WAS there in the boiler room, and the crowd had mixed reaction with some shouting insults for them to play a tune during the "quieter" moments
i never expect too much, so i always have the BEST day out @ the BDO

still.....
peace, love, unity, respect.

hey i was just wondering did they play longer sets at their seperate shows than the ones at the bdo? i saw em at melb and thought they were awesome but couldnt get tix to the metro show. so anyone know how long they played for???

i was a bit dissapointed with the chems at the sydney BDO.
i thought they didn't really put that much variety into their set, it sounded like they grabbed a dat of their albums and played those to the crowd with some ambient noise in between tracks.
they did get creative on a few of their tracks from exit planet dust. hearing leave home on their encore was the highlight of their set.....but as a whole i could've had a similar experience listening to their albums at a club(but then i wouldn't get to see toms(?) spectacular hair).
the basement jaxx set was definitely the high point of the BDO for me

I may be a bit biased here, being a huge chemical brothers fan, but their show on the Gold Coast pretty much gave back to me what every rave and club event in brisbane had taken away from me...the wonderment and pure fuck-up pleasure of some trippy, mixed up and ambient electronic beats! I loved their set, and loved the fact that they played their old stuff (song to the siren and doesnt matter especially) as well as new stuff, infact i would have to say that it was the best time of my life! i danced the whole set straight (mind you i kicked a few ppl) and the vibes in the crowd just uplifted my already uplifted mood!
Yes i paid $72 just to see the chemical brothers, and judging from the time i had, i would have seriously regretted not going!
So people say that it was crap...everyone to themselves..i totally loved it and would repeat that 100 min set over and over for a whole month/year/lifetime if i could!

the set they played on JJJ was a little short of an hr long, and i dont think they edited it.... and from what i can remember, i think their time slot was 10:30-11:30pm ??? maybe ??? i cant really remember....
wink.gif

the following nite, i saw them @ the hordern, and from every1 i spoke to who saw them twice in sydney, we agree the hordern show was 3 to 4 times better....
smile.gif

they played a longer set, about 1 1/2hr, which went by so quick.... and the visuals were nicer [they were excellent !!!] and the sounds was just......*lovely* !!!
i dunno could be the fact that the hordern had a better sound and structure....being square and the boiler room being more rectangluar.... hmmmmmm
music wise, after hearing the JJJ broadcast, was definately mucmuch better @ the hordern show... i agree that the latter 1/2 of the BDO set lacked a bit, but then that's personal opinion... whereas, many times @ the hordern, i was just LOST in a bliss cloud of sounds and visuals and smiles...

ahhhhhhhh, *sigh*
enough of my ramblings, i just hope now ppl know it's being played this sunday, so they can tape it, or listen in, and make a 2nd opinion.... i know i did...
