Let me preface this post by saying in no way should anyone take ChatGPT, or any other LLMs for that matter, too seriously.
Listening to ChatGPT and blindly following what it says WILL LEAD TO BAD CONSEQUENCES! That is NOT what this thread is about!

Now with that out of the way - how many of you use ChatGPT for general questions about drugs? As we know, it has the amazing ability to traverse the internet and peek in corners that we are not able to reach, especially with all the harm reduction filters on the search engines nowadats.
Personally, I have used it to ask questions about general opiate tolerance reduction tips. Also some anecdotal stories about certain questions because I just neither have the skills nor the time to scroll through pages and pages of google, browsing forums that have nothing to do with my question.

It's been great so far - I make sure I don't take what it says to heart because as we know AIs tend to hallucinate and give biased, completely wrong answers at times.
But it's nice to use it as a tool for theoretical questions that I don't see others discussing much about online.

Thoughts?

I’ve seen it be wrong regarding drugs many a time. It will oversimplify things to the point of nonsense, will misinterpret papers as if it has the comprehension of a child, and it seemingly takes information from any article deemed “trustworthy” by view count (I can imagine no other reasons).

AI tools like this are undoubtedly just the new form of controlling the dissemination of information. I have no hope for the future anymore. People truly do blindly trust these chatbots to be some all-knowing oracle.

Not sure about drugs specifically but I find it's only good for broad general advice on topics, but it is also a lot better than google at locating the sources of information you're looking for on whatever topic you're researching.

For drug information just use Psychonaut wiki, Erowid and here. These are generally pretty good sources for information about drugs

I wouldn't trust it farther than I could throw it honestly (not far seeing as it is a non corporeal digital creation) mostly because anytime I have asked it about things I know alot about, I get annoyed by its recurring hallucinations. It could maybe start you on some research though.

I don't touch those things with a ten foot pole. Still have never used a ChatBot and don't intend to unless for some reason I will need to as part of my job.

I know we all know this, but just a little reminder...
ChatGPT had a huge sign-up clause in the beginning that I read over very briefly about what data it collects. I am sure everyone knows that our phones store everything we research and watch anyway but - just be careful what information you're feeding the feds. 😉
