As above off to see te doctor tomorrow I don't want tramadol, DHC, fentanyl or oramorph. It's either instant release morphine or diamorphine how much better is diamorphine for pain relief? I can barely stand up today with the pain! I'm 27 for fucke sake!

AFAIK oral diamorphine isn't all that impressive and converts to morphine in vivo anyway (although I'm sure somebody will correct me on that). The big deal with diamorphine (aka heroin) is when smoked and - especially - injected and I seriously doubt you're gonna be scripted diamorphine amps. It's very heavily controlled and only used in a vanishingly small number of instances. I can't really see any doctor prescribing it for pain relief.

It does work well as a painkiller but it's also extremely euphoric and extremely moreish (you may have heard that smack is somewhat recreational and can be kinda tricky to say no to once said yes to). To be honest, morphine would probably be a better option anyway purely for pain relief purposes.

I was given diamorphine IM during childbirth so yea it's ace for pain (considering I had a massive tear n was cathiterised on the stuff) n yea it's euthoric n I nevet forgot that amazing feeling. But I doubt they'd give something like that to the general public unless you're terminally ill because of the addictive potential.
With saying this, I'm thinking of the UK n am not sure where you're from, along with the prescribing laws. I know that in the UK it's getting more difficult for people to be prescribed even codeine due to addictions etc. so I guess what they give you depends on
- country prescribing laws
- your condition n what your pain is
- history of drug (ab)use etc

Have you already been scripted DHC and progressed through to stronger ones such as Fent for your back pain??

If not, I can't imagine a Dr in the land -private not included- that would put you straight onto morphine just because you tell him/her you don't want the other options..

You're determined to get some smack aren't you? ;) Well good luck with that mate....

Haha no it's genuinely for pain, as I say I've been scripted everything bar diamorphine, I was on MST before and don't want any slow release anymore I believe that was the problem why my tolerence grew so quickly. So it's going to be instant release morphine or diamorphine I just want tablets to take as and when needed.
I have to go hospital every few weeks to get phenytoin infusions but now they do fuck all. I start a decent money job Monday and need to be able to work all week, in April I start a mega money job I HAVE to be able to work it's as simple as that ?

I should mention I've been scripted DHC, fentanyl, oramorph, tramadol, MST morphine all on repeat prior all at the same time too!
The doctors know how genuinely fucked I am, if anyone has any other suggestions feel free to tell me.
I was also given Sub-Q diamorphine every morning when I was bed ridden few years ago

At a stretch you may be scripted oxycodone if you've already been scripted fentanyl previously. It's not very commonly prescribed here but is far more likely than diamorphine is and also a more practical option for chronic pain. Other than that, morphine (perhaps a combination of ER and IR) is probably the most likely prescription given what you have said.

Nah, I'm not trying to be clever or funny, but for some reason diamorphine is only given in exceptional circumstances. Like yourself Evey, my Mrs was given IM diamorphine during a particularly traumatic childbirth (we knew the child wouldn't live), but pain patients seem to be denied it - just look at Englandgz ( I hope you are reading this mate so you can offer your input), he was on frankly ridiculous amounts of opiates - except diamorphine. Why???

When I decided to stop taking them, I was on 100mcg per hour fentanyl, 300mg MST, 600mg DHC, 600+mg tramadol and oramorph when I felt like it. It was pretty heavy IMO.
Shambles what's ER and IR?

Extended release and instant release? I am kinda worried about slow release again to be honest as I can go without pain relief when I'm not working or on my feet much so I don't want it when I don't need to.

Yeah, extended and instant release. They're often prescribed together that way for chronic pain.

To be honest, it's really a matter for you and your doctor. Be warned, doctors can smell drug-seeking at a gazillion paces and - given your recent thread about wanting to try heroin - this does have a faint whiff of it even to me. That and in the OP you ask what the difference in analgesic effect is between morphine and diamorpine then go on to say you were given sub-q diamorphine for pain in the past but don't include it in your list of prescribed meds.

I'm not casting aspersions cos I have no idea what your situation is but there is definitely a drug-seeking waft around the place. I'm not suggesting that you are not in need of proper pain control meds but you need to be careful when dealing with doctors cos they will cut you off dead and prescribe fuck all forevermore if they also catch that waft whether there is legitimate need or not.

I was curious about trying heroin for recreation purposes to see what the fuss is about but this is entirely different I have no need to lie on a forum ?

I wasn't prescribed sub-q diamorphine all the others were prescription. When I wS stuck in hospital I was given it when I would wake up bent double in agony. I was in a real bad way in them days after dying and being revived, bed ridden etc I can't remember much about it apart from it kicked in pretty quick then I would relax the pain would go and I could go back to sleep. I'd wake up about 3 hours later into me for the tea trolley going round the wards! ??

Btw - I've also been sent for acupuncture which did absolutely nothing, had various MRI's all sorts of tests and other crap but they were unable to find the actual source of the pain and put it down to some micro-vascular and nervous thing I don't know the name of. In essence when I was 'brown bread' and my heart had packed in my blood flow stopped, my toes were unable to be saved and I cut a couple off, pulled some off and had 1 removed in the hospital. Now from about halfway between my hips and my knees on both legs I'm in some serious serious pain. To the point I struggle to walk around tesco with Mrs.Buffnstuff it's become a bit of a shit existence especially now I am in a position work wise to make serious money and frankly I struggle to just do my job. ? my quality of life has decreased so much *sigh*
My jobs pretty seasonal and starts in April till oct, I need enough pain relief to manage the season then I'll have enough money not to work till next season

As I said, I'm not disputing that you may require proper pain meds but I also can't see you being scripted heroin either. It's used for acute and seriously severe pain in circumstances like your own acute needs at the time and traumatic childbirth situations as mentioned above. It's just not used for chronic or "situational" pain of the type you describe.

But, again, it's really a matter for you and your doctor - I'm just suggesting it may not work out in the way you might hope if you go in and ask for diamorphine cos that really does tend to set off the drug-seeker alarm bells and if you are likely to be in need of pain meds longterm the last thing you want to do is acquire even the faintest whiff of drug-seeking cos you really will be cut off with nothing and left to suffer with nowt but paracetamol or maybe the more brutal prescription NSAIDs at best.

What's stronger for pain relief than morphine without it being diamorphine. Just trying to keep my options open for tomorrow so I have an idea of what will be best
