CEPS Well Hung Parliament (CEPS Social/Off Topic)

Man... embarrassing.
Imagine writing this, so bad, sooo bad. The absolute state of American media, un-believable. It was from 2016 though, but still....

I've got to say, it's weird to hang out with some of you guys outside of CEPS.

Politics keeps us divided. Without it, we are the same. Just people.

The CEP&S phenomenon has always surprised me. If someone is just spouting political stuff, I don’t really have any feelings about it. But if someone is a white supremacist or something, then I am repulsed.

Why is everything a phobia? I just got accused on CEPS of being sinophobic. I had to look it up.

The definition is: Fear of or contempt for China, its people, or its culture.

...

There are a lot of dangerous spiders in Australia. We have (per capita) the highest number of deadly spiders and snakes in the world, hands down. It's normal here. We don't think anything of it. I woke up the other day with a white tail crawling on me. They are breeding in my roof. My brother used to breed redbacks when I lived with him. He bred them in an aquarium with no lid. He told me not to worry about it and put some fly-screen over the top. When they hatched, they crawled straight through the fly-screen. I remember them - it is etched on the surface of my memory forever - a black cloud of baby redbacks flooding across the roof of his room. (I don't think this is an implanted memory. I am not a replicant, as far as I know.)

If I said to a fellow Australian: redbacks are dangerous little fuckers, they wouldn't accuse me of being arachnophobic.

I think part of the reason this doesn't repulse me is my job. I've worked with people who have brain injuries for so long now, I've been able to get past the worst of the worst. Certain areas of the brain result in all sorts of bizarre offensive behaviour. I have learnt to see the human in the monster. There is - always - a lost child. That is my belief.
