Your right, college students need factual and balanced material but we have a problem when you have many professors who never leave campus for a real job.... Especially when they take students under their wings who write grad papers in agreement with their own beliefs. They transition those students to Associate or Assistant Lecturer, Tutor, Research Asst on to professors in many public universities.

And then there's k-12 public schools. What a fucking disaster they've been and will continue to be... Passing out condoms to 11yo... teaching SSM is a good thing and being gay is natural...while at the same time teach grade school kids they should be open minded to try new things. How confusing is that?? All this without parental consent or notice makes it a nightmare. This is just part of why concerned parents push for a voucher system. I'm one among many who spent so much on k-12 private schools and now I don't have enough to send them to a decent private college.

My 19yo was teased and bullied out of Letterman University [Ball State] because of his beliefs and HS background. He's shy anyway and tried to fit in with party kids and the non party ones [for lack of better description] and both ended up shunning him at dorm because they labled him the opposite of who thet were. How is that any different than any other kind of prejudice? He'll be OK though because we had a backup plan already in place.

Whats tearing this country up is change most parents aren't willing to accept. It's absolutely wrong to brainwash a 5-7 year old child to celebrate "Gay Pride Day" in a public school classroom and teach them to be open to try new behaviors such as this. I believe I know what middle america is all about more than you. I have nothing against gays as long as they don't insist on teaching chidren it's normal to try gay sex... when the opposite is actually true. How about "straight pride day"?

This is the stuff that promotes home schooling and sacrificing parental retirement years to make sure the local school district isn't teaching this and other objectional material. Reading these kind books to kids who can't read or just learning is disgraceful. No wonder these parents were outraged. Especially when schools neglect to advise them advance and it goes against what these kids are taught in their homes, churches, mosques, and synagogues.

How about sending some of the principals and teachers as volunteers into middle east countries to teach these values. Christian teacher missionaries do it... why not them.

BTW my recreational music preferences [or anything else] doesn't have anything to do with political ideology. Since Pink Floyd [when they were at the height of popularity] advocated leftest thought in lyrics of songs... I'm suppose to not like them now??? We're not talking about rock bands here... this was about school admin and teaching. What a bunch of crap..

David Bowie is also a favorite but don't believe he's a good example of a lifestyle I want my kids to follow... I could go further into talented professionals and experts in most evey field whom I admire for their work.... without being concerned about their sex preferences or politics. Artistically... I'm not attacking anyone. Just protesting teaching innocents it's ok to behave the opposite of what is taught at home. Especially with my tax dollars.

I wish we were all in this together but that really isn't true. As long as there are borders, classes, different ideologies, along with strong disagreements in whats... wrong & right, togetherness is a fantasy. Just because we all live on the same planet, doesn't mean we will ever have anything close to nirvana. That's probably because your view of paradise on earth is clearly different than mine. The devil is in the details.

I'm happy to "co-exist" with anyone who doesn't push their "alternative lifestyle" onto my children thru our local school district... actually grandchidren at this point. This becomes personal when you have young children in the fight.

Lyrics and meanings are open to interpretation and how an individual relates at a point in time. One might like a riff and/or a beat in a tune but care less for the intended message in the lyrics or lyrics themselves... and vice versa.

this "becomes personal" when some of the closest people to me/anyone simply want legal recognition that they are a couple, or open acceptance of the idea that they are not an "unnatural abomination".

this becomes personal when you grow up in the middle of a city of people holding your extremist "family values" (when did family values become equivalent to anti gay?) with more churches per capita than anywhere in the midwest*, and you see the suicides and torn family ties, and peoples' senses of alienation and division and self-hatred and guilt for things that deserve no such emotions.

we can love who we want to love. period. and you cannot indoctrinate your children into not being gay... you would probably wind up severely damaging them and their chance at happiness if you tried, particularly if they are gay.

Public Schools only have the right to teach morality as defined by their school boards. Thank God the overwhelming majority don't allow this ridiculous agenda... Muslims, Jews, and christians will simply create more private schools and eventually vouchers will be voted in or fed educ budget will drop dramatically.

I get the impression the intent is not the same.

In the USSR, it was more "the state wants you to believe this". The people, it seems, didn't necessarily believe it.
