i started taking 10mg/day of celexa about a week ago, and i was wondering if anyone had been on it before, and if it worked, or if you'd recommend something else.
so far i've just been really moody, but that's nothing too out of the ordinary for me. i was also wondering if anyone knows what happens if you take too much of it (if i was to take 40mg at once, for example).

sorry if this doesn't make any sense, i've been sober for like a week and my brain hates me.

I'm on celexa right now and was on 20mg first. It did nothing but make me feel weird, headaches and crazy dreams. I finally got the dosage changed a few days ago to 40mg. My doctor told me 20mg is a drop in the bucket, a hit or miss. So I can imagine 10mg must me NOTHING! Right now I don't feel different even at 40mg but my body has to get use to it if that doesn't work I can go up to 60mg or change the prescription. Just remember it doesn't work right away it takes awhile sometimes even months.

Oh by the way the weird side effects like I said I had went away after a couple of weeks. My body finally got use to the drug and yours will too. Then from their upping your dosage will be a piece of cake.

Celexa is a brand name of citalopram... I've been on citalopram for about 12 years, sometimes 20 mg, sometimes 40 mg... It certainly helps with anxiety and panic attacs and makes my mood better. There are some side-effects when beginning taking the medication, including some trippy feelings(everything seems more colorful than usual), but nothing too serious.

The only side-effect I've noted is that it lessens sexual desire and delays orgasm, but that is not a problem because I'm a young man, and men of my age tend to be sexually overactive and have premature ejaculation...

I first tried this about 3 years ago. It didn't help me out at all. 10mg is a pretty low dosage tho, maybe give it some time (think 1 month +) and if its still not working for you then ask your dr to increase the dose or try you on something else. Mirtazapine is very good, I just couldn't stand the sugar cravings.
