What would be involved in making a CBD oil or extract? Would you have to lose the THC or could a THC and CBD extract be made from the same material? Just curious...especially when it pertains to BHO. You do not see much of a market yet for CBD products, but it seems like they are growing in popularity.

There is actually a huge market for cbd concentrates and various products with serious patients. The easiest way to make high cbd low thc oil is to grow a strain with a good ratio generally close to 1:1. Then use the trim to make your bho. You can potentially heat it as THC burns off at a lower temp than CBD. But, I don't recommend that as it really is not really an efficient way to extract CBD.

Thanks, I figured that. Is there an actual way to use the same product for separate extracts of THC and CBD though regardless of what kind of extract? I can't seem to find information on this other than what you have suggested. I also thought the high CBD strains are usually mutations and not ways true to the strain. For example not all Harlequin will have high CBD content. Maybe I'm wrong on the strains, but definitely interested to see if there is a way to make extracts with the same product. THC then CBD most likely...

As I recall there was an effective extraction tech demonstrated by a man in Nova Scotia, Canada who was a big proponent of the medicine. Forget his name but maybe those details can lead you to his vid.

IIRC he used isopropyl alcohol and a rice cooker.

It would arguably be better to use a mostly CBD strain with negligible amounts of THC. This could easily be achieved by growing out a himalayan landrace strain and would bypass having to deal with all that THC.

If you simply took that female and crossed it with another mostly CBD strain (rather than a 1:1 THC:CBD) you would have the CBD trait fixed and the seed would stay true to type as long as you kept isolating each generation from other plants (or you could just keep the female plants as a mother).

If you want a short, fast flowering plant (relatively speaking) you could even go for something like a Nepalese plant.

Thanks. I'll look for it. Any idea where you saw this at?

I don't think it's on youtube anymore and google searches are not revealing it. But I can't remember the guy's name so that's also a problem with the search!

Sorry!
