First off if this thread is in the wrong place please move to somewhere more suited please.

Right now to the subject of my curiosity at times.
It's pretty much a universal piece of knowledge that stimulants (predominantly NDR/A stimulants I assume) can cause acute outbreaks of acne. Some of the simpler factors that contribute can be poor hygiene during use, the cuts that can be found in non pharmaceutical drugs (e.g. glucose (speculation as far as I assume)) and stress/anxiety/negative mental effects as a result of use.

In my research on this subject I have been unable to find anything pertinent on the pharmacological/biochemical causes behind this occurrence. I assume there will be something on this level that factors into this occurring. It seems logical that there's something going on.
So I ask anyone more knowledgeable than I to please share anything concrete or theoretical in regards to this seeming mystery.
Thank you in advance for your time and sharing of knowledge.

Is it? I've never heard of such. I guess I have heard that stress itself can aggravate acne, but luckily I don't think I or anyone I know has experienced acute stimulant-induced acne.

Acne doesn't just develop overnight. It's likely to be caused by the lifestyle - not showering (plus) increased metabolic rate leading to higher body temp and increased sweating can both contribute to a higher level of bacterial proliferation on the skin. Just remember how sweaty some people seem to get on stimulants... when you are pouring sweat for hours it's not so far fetched that without regular and thorough cleaning, you'll have the skin of a fry cook.

The sugar used to cut drugs is probably the last likely culprit... keep in mind that the servings of sugar needed to cause biological issues are much higher than any dose of drugs you should be consuming. A teaspoon of sugar is five grams, and that's what people put in their tea... if you have 50% amphetamine that is cut with sugar, you'd still eat no more than 100mg of sugar per dose!

Ahh that's understandable. Excuse my assumption that stims can cause acne. It seemed a logical enough connection to make. With your explanation it makes it clear that it's unlikely that a drug itself that causes this.

Skyrockets cortisol levels, upregulates corticosteroid receptors and completely fucks serotonin receptors (esp. 5HT7). Combined with hygeine, diet, lack of sleep and genetic predisposition. Also dehydration.
