Thank god for community college.

I changed my major so many times it's sad. Let's see: History, Music Performance, Business, Pharmacy, then Biotechnology.
I finally landed on being a math teacher because of the life opportunity that it can get me. I can live and work literally in any town or city in America I want with a degree from NY, and I am a person of many hobbies so I don't want a corporate job that's gonna suck 50+ hours out of my week. Plus I can honestly say that I am going to be helping people and making a difference, which appeals to me. And people have always told me that I'd be a good teacher, so I'm gonna take them up on that and see for myself. Look out America another idealistic hippie teacher is coming at ya!
I picked math because I figured they are slightly more marketable than a liberal arts teacher so I would have no trouble getting a job, plus my previous major, biotechnology, already had me take lots of math classes. I already have taken more advanced math classes than I'll probably ever be teaching. Plus math is really easy for me, it's like a puzzle that makes perfect sense. I think I can convey my grasp of the subject to struggling teenagers. And I know I can relate to those problem children getting into drugs and making wrong choices because I was that person for a long time.
If I find that the salary isn't something I can live with, which I doubt, I can always go back and build off my schooling and get a more marketable degree. From what I've read it's easier certification wise to go from being a teacher to working in some industry than the other way around.
So this is by no means my final destination, but it's me getting on my own two feet just to see how I like it. I am 20 years old and finishing up one last semester at MCC then I'm getting into SUNY Geneseo for the fall.
