Carbidopa

Does anyone know why carbidopa is L-DOPA + an AADCI (Aromatic acid Decarboxylase Inhibitor). Why would we want to suspend the metabolism of L-DOPA into dopamine for parkinson's disease. Is it to prevent over stimulation?

Parkinsons and the drugs used to treat it are no fun. Mostly because they're last-ditch attempts to keep a crumbling dopamine system supported.
