The DR has just started me on 400mg carbamazepine daily, to be honest he never really explained very well why, but also I was W/Ding and just wanting my meth script so was else were, I do remember him saying it was to help me cut down my benzo use, I'm unsure how.

Will this drug make my diazepam have less of an effect? The DR increased my meth as he said it will make my current meth dose have less of an effect.

Thanks in advance.

On paper, it should cause synergistic sedation with valium (but to what degree is unclear). I'd be careful with the combination (or avoid it entirely).

ebola

I think the idea is to reduce craving, increasing GABAergic activity etc. Given it's activity I'd expect increased sedation, but not significantly decreased respiratory drive as a result. By meth do you mean methadone or methamphetamine? I assume the former given the context, but it's a term usually used for the latter.

I work with carbamazepine in my lab to effectively dampen neuronal activity. It stabilizes the closed state of sodium channels, reducing the probability of an action potential in neurons. I mainly use it for a specific purpose when using slices from hippocampi, but from the short discussion with my P.I. about clinical use, it apparently fell out of favor relatively quickly after better drugs were developed to treat epilepsy and convulsions. It has a very large list of side effects, and many of them are paradoxical to that of a GABAergic drug. Nasty shit.

Thanks for the help, and Hamilton I ment methadone sorry, since methamphetamine isnt popular here methadone is refered to meth here.
