anyway, today i suffered through some fairly unpleasant ethanol withdrawal symptoms. usually i respond to that with benzos, preferably mixed with thc, but since i had neither today i had to improvise.
to give some background, i've been drinking on and off since i was 16, with it taking seriously damaging chronic forms sometime around two years a go (1 liter+ vodka a day).
after two detoxes and countless hours in counseling i'm still not over it but have it pretty much contained to one, two binges a month.
(disclaimer: i know my brain and can gauge relatively well how it will react to any given drug. this is not meant as an instruction, merely as an experience report)
anyway.
ethanol withdrawal usually manifests itself in its worst form around 48-72 hours after the last drink. shaking and sweating, nausea and insomnia but worst of all a feeling like i have a million angry fire ants under my skin. i never had full blown delirium tremens, but it can still get really unpleasant. i've had visual distortions, and the feeling that everything is a few million lumen too bright. i had two beers, some carbamazepine and pregabalin in stock.
i took one (200mg) of the carbamazepine with the two beer. it took the worst off the edge off. however, the pill significantly amplified a latent nausea i was already feeling. i waited for two more hours, then bought a sixpack and a bottle of cheap vodka. hair of the dog and so on. however 1500mg pregabalin mixed with two screwdrivers and some food - soft boiled eggs and toast - took again care of the worst...
now i'm okay, and i know pregabalin last fairly long, but i'm still shitscared. i know that i probably won't be able to kick the habit without some benzos or something and i don't know where to get any. does anyone have any tips?
edit: also i take 10mgs of selegiline and 30mgs of mirtrazapine a day. i don't know how much that factors in though.
