Cant take hydrocodone without laying down...

Ive been popping some 10mg hydrocodone over the past week. (trying for the first time) 2 gets me high as a motherfucker, but I cant function on these pills at all

Every time I take them, I feel sick till the point of throwing up if I don't completely lay down and get under covers and close my eyes. Is this the way the drug is normally supposed to work?

I don't get much sleep normally, about 6 hours on average. Do I get sick because my body cant handle the drug? Does this happen to anyone else?

Sorry if this is a dumb question this is my first time trying any pills.

It might be the APAP in it making you sick, even though it's a small amount. Try doing a cold water extraction on the pills next time before you take them.

Normally that shouldn't be making you sick. I know I can take Hydro as long as it's the 5's and and not the 7.5's. Those make me sick and I think it's the APAP in my situation.

opiates have a side effect of making people nauseous when they have no tolerance, if you are taking 2 10's it is possible to get nauseous I suppose, if you are really sensitive. I never get nauseous on opiates but I know there are those that do.

Depending on your size and other factors 20mg could actually be a little much if you've never done anything like this at all before. It's a fairly normal side effect if you take too much, so just try a little less next time perhaps.

as bronson suggested, try a lower dose and see if you still get sick. if so, there is the possibility that you are indeed sensitive to the acetaminophen in them- as babygurl mentioned. however, it seems lately that i've been reading more about people getting nauseous from hydrocodone moreso than oxycodone for whatever reasons.

if you are interested in further experimenting with painkillers, see if you can find some without apap. it's better for you anyway. i'm pretty sure it's the dose being too high though.

At that dose, I would not just be nauseas, I'd be hurling.


It is actually the 'vomit nerve' that is being stimulated, not so much gastrointestinal distress that invokes the nausea.

Morphine has never gotten me high. ive taken 8 at once of the 30mg purple ones and nothing happend.

but when i took it the first time. when i was new to taking painkillers. i hurled like a motherfucker.

this also happens to me if i havent taken opiates in awhile and i take a few hydromorphone

when i first started taking opiates it was 10-15mg of hydro like you to feel real good. When I started taking them I would get very sick all the time also. especially if i was up and walking around a lot. I found that if I ate anything at all before i took them it would help a lot.

Yeah 20mg hydro for a new comer is a little excessive, 7.5-10mg is really that should be necessary

I agree with the above. Nausea is a common side effect of opiates, and it's more pronounced when taking higher doses then one is accustomed to. As an addict, I still get nauseated from time to time from my regular dose.

10mg would give you better effects. You aren't going to be fucked outta your mind , but you will have a nice high that you will be able to function on.

Theres 2 types of opiate addicts:

Functional: These people don't nod out all day, don't do so much dope til they can't function. They are able to work, perform every day tasks and so on... I was one of these and it's the better one of the two. I was always on opiates but never became incompacitated. morphine and hydro was my doc.

Nonfunctional: These people nod, they do so much dope they can't function, they're just looking for that fix to reach that point, that's all they do.

Alright thanks for all the replies. I was just wondering if this was a common side effect of taking hydrocodone. For anyone who wanted to know I only weigh about 120 and im 5"5. I have about three 10mg's left so i guess ill take 15mg two different times.
