I IV boy the other day in an artery. I passed out and woke up and my hand was really numb for a day and a half and i couldn't lift my wrist. I have full mobility and feeling now but i can't lift my wrist. My two main arteries in that arm are pretty rough, so is a blood flow problem? does this heal?

get to a dr ASAP

these are one of the type of fuck ups that cause limb loss. arteries go to your muscles etc. so all the dope you shot went into whatever muscle it was supplying blood to, and we all know how clean dope is.. do yourself a favor and just at least get it looked at.
goodluck!

Like others have already said, get to a doctor, ASAP.. That's nothing to trifle with. That being said, we're no doctor(s), all we can do is speculate.

That's fucking awful. You must go to the ER now. This is one of the few cases where I can say someone is definitely about to LOSE A LIMB. FUCKING GO. At best if you don't go, you're going to suffer permanent nerve damage and never regain full limb function, and probably worse.

the real problem when you puncture an artery is as follows.

You have a vessel which transports blood, under immense pressure (compared to veins). Once you punch a hole in this vessel, blood will leak out, quicker, faster and under more pressure then a vein. When you don't push on your site after hitting a vein, you will get a bruise. This is due to blood leaking out from your vein, and pooling under your skin. The pressure on arteries is at least a tenfold higher. The only right thing to do when you puncture an artery is to keep strong pressure on the site for at least 15 minutes, and if possible constrict the blood flow to said area (Don't constrict blood flow for more than a minute at a time though).

So hitting an artery is bad news, due to you being unable to stop the internal leakage of blood that happens under your skin. this can lead to a HUGE number of complications. Also, anything that enters an artery will still have to go through your bodies capillary bed, and here, pill binders and other insoluble things will do even more damage. If you frequently inject into your arteries, you have accumulation at the capillary beds, as opposed to your lungs (Anything you shoot into a vein will go through your pulmonary circuit first, before entering the systemic circuit).

If i knew i hit a vein, i would imeadiatley withdraw my needle and keep pressure on the site for at least 15 minutes. I would keep my affected limb elevated also.
Hitting an artery with a sterile needle and clean solution, is one thing. Hitting one with a dirty, blunt, used needle and some cooked up street drugs, is another game altogether. I suggest you see medical professionals ASAP, and tell them exactly what you did, when, and how long ago. This is a matter of limb or no limb, life or death.

Interesting why he would pass out. The drugs dont reach your brain in the same way when you go into an artery right?

I never felt like I got high after hitting an artery. And I've done it (unfortunately) several times. I had nerve damage for about 3 months in my hand. <- that being said, listen to everyone else and get your shit checked out. Always better to be safe than sorry.

He could've passed out from the pain... Pain receptors run thick all along arteries.

What you have is called "wrist drop", i just had this last year (not from shooting dope) but from a car accident, it's when the radial nerve in your arm gets pinched or severed or even damaged.

it's pretty serious if you don't get it checked out, mine took almost 6 MONTHS! to heal, and that's cause i waited almost 2 weeks without seeking treatment for it.

This is what it sounds like to me, only because I've had it happen from sleeping on my arm at my computer desk for an entire night. I could not make an 'up motion' with my wrist for the life of me for quite a few months. Totally paralyzed when I tried to move it up, but I had slight movement otherwise.

It really sucked.

Anyway, I hope the OP has gone to the hospital by now. Maybe if we're lucky he'll drop by for an update.

Wow.. did it ever occur to you this might be a good time to seek medical attention? Fuck man.
