Cannabis oil as a solvent

Where I live you can buy cosmetic cannabis oil in the supermarket.
It has no THC content apparently.
But I was curious to know if you could use this sort of cannabis oil as a solvent for weed or hash.
I was thinking of boiling the hash in the cannabis oil, mainly in the spirit of loony experimentation.
But perhaps this has been tried?

"Cannabis oil" usually refers to hemp seed oil. It can be used as a solvent for THC, just like most other plant oil.
