is it true that the 'cannabis increases risk of schizophrenia' study has been disproved? i heard this from a friend but i cant find anything that discusses the matter that has been posted recently. im sure that someone here will know

lol i dig your tag but i havent seen anything on this study for a while. Its hard to tell if psychedelic increase "risk" per say. To my understanding drugs like LSD trigger what's already their.

Not really. Statistical analysis of a properly conducted study is all that is needed to determine a risk factor.

This is just a theory, of course. Obviously it's impossible to know whether a schizophrenic that developed symptoms after marijuana/psychedelic use, would've developed symptoms at some point had they not used drugs... (unless you've got a time machine - one of those would certainly benefit science!)

true that, my mistake. i just recall hearing 1 in 500 have schizophrenia naturally & then 1 in 500 trigger schizophrenia from psychs.

^ 'sall good. :) Actually, a statistic like that could be strong evidence for the 'triggering' theory as opposed to causation - although there are a lot of other factors (are potential schizophrenics more drawn/opposed to psychedelics? etc.)

yeah its more like one percent of schizophrenics are found in all populations across the globe and this is novel because it is one of the rare diseases that are found in equal amounts everywhere. thank that info to some psychologist in north wales(bangor)

another reason it can be hard 2 tell is the argue of causation of casua... ok i forgot the exact terms lol but its hard 2 know whether the drugs caused the schizophrenia or whether schizophrenics (or those developing the diesease, i.e. in the early stages) turn 2 drugs 2 help themselves feel better..

i did some reasearch on this for uni (first year so wasn't 2 in depth lol) and there really is no definant answer and there probably never will be imo .. its probably a little from column A and a little from column B

marijuana studies for.. and marijuana studies against are both as sketchy as the other.. seeing as marijuana is not legal anywhere.. there can never be large scale studies of the effects of marijuana.. most studies are done with under 500 people that are within one area of the world..
