Does anyone find cannabis use really helps with withdrawal?

Maybe the effects themselves are a bit like opiates.. a cosy withdrawn state..

No, absolutely not. =]

I hear people talking about it but I do not understand it one bit. Cannabis does nothing to relieve the pain I experience during poppy wds, and because I'm already in a degraded psychological state to begin, smoking weed makes me confused, chaotic, and a complete mess.

The only thing it does help with sometimes in that case is getting shut eye, but if my legs are shaking its not really gonna help at all. So I guess it depends on the severity.

It can help the feeling of time going on forever plus the boredom that I feel and, sometimes, it can help me sleep if it's a strain that mongs me out.
But otherwise it makes me incredibly anxious and paranoid and it doesn't help with much in the way of withdrawal symptoms.

I guess it's different for each person to be honest so it's worth giving it a go :)

Honestly when I'm in withdrawal I find that smoking marijuana is not that enjoyable because my eyes are so teary and I can't stop yawning and the weed just doesn't go well with those symptoms.

Weed always helps me out tremendously. It really helps with the boredome and nausea. I often go into rages sometimes or am jus really angry when w/d and some weed can help me chill out and calm down

I find buprenorphine and weed to be the combo best suited to help people off of heroin. Weed isn't physically addictive, and I find it also helps curb some of the nausea I get with buprenorphine. Without bud and bupe I probably wouldn't have quit using heroin.

It helps me when I'm in w/d. It helps the irritability, the anxiety, calming my nerves, taking my mind of the urge to use...etc.

^^

I agree, it helps the cravings tremendously, it depends on the strain, and sometimes from some strains my I get really bad anxiety, but I have generalized anxiety disorder anyway. Bupe + Benzo's + Weed is the best combo, and has helped me get off my huge Oxycodone habit.

For me Cannabis both calms my nerves somewhat but at the same time it makes the pain more intense and makes me more anxious and paranoid.
So I dont smoke weed on WD's, alcohol works alot better.
Almost takes all the pain away, makes me mood greater and i can drink myself to sleep.
Obviously alcohol and cannabis together is very good. But Cannabis alone is a no go for me in WD's.

For full blown opioid withdrawal, it is terrible.

For mild withdrawal associated with opioid dose reduction, its ok in low doses. Personally, I preferred hash to the buds as its more sedating and less tweaky....

Never liked it, but I gotta admit that it did help with the cravings a little bit.

Someone said bupe + weed is a very good combo and I gotta agree. Bupe did a good job of masking the physical withdrawal symptoms for me, but the cravings were always there. Add some weed to the mix and problem solved!

love it. when im withdrawaling im usually laying on the couch watching tv or sitting on the computer. weed makes me laugh and feel good. the euphoria i get from it really makes me forget about my withdrawal symptoms.

only at night though. i once smoked early in the day when dopesick and it was one of the worst days ever.

Sometimes. Theres times my anxiety shot thru the roofs from it which eventually leads to some relaxation a hour later. Than theres most of the time where I just feel relaxed after a good sesh. Kind of put the whole thought of being in the depths of hell in the back burner for a little while. I can get some decent sleep after a session too and the ability to eat. In general it takes your mind off the situation, which I believe w/d to be 70% psychological

from the title...

i only wish, and everyone and i mean EVERYONE would be an opiate addict+ marijuana addict..

but smoking weed while in minor WDs helps MENTALLY a lot, but if ur in some seriouse WDs, like 50 hours into it when its at its worst... i would def not smoke a fat blunt, maybe a few hits.

VERY good estimate, 4real...

but yeah, weed helps inthe sense that maybe while in WDs u can fucking eat, cuz not eating makes WDs 4 times as worse... if u can keep eating 3 meals a day, ur withdrawls will be majorly better

Could not agree more!

yea weed def helps me. Especially if its smoked in a bong. It seems for the first couple hours i can almost relax to the point where i sorta forget about the w/d's and the anxiety i had before. But what i personally like to use weed for when in w/d is to aid my appetite. Yea it helps with anxiety a bit, and some like it for insomnia or nausea, but i think that the greatest thing about it is that it allows me to eat.
When you are in w/d , especially after the 2nd or 3rd day, most of the terrible symptoms you feel is from being dehydrated and malnurished. Smoking some bud allows me to pound down mass amounts of protein and carbs and it makes a world of difference. it is sooo important to eat when your in w/d. the less you eat, and drink, the longer and more intense your w/d's will be. There is no record of anyone every dying from opiate w/d itself. but people have died from malnourishment

Supposedly a few people have died from opioid withdrawal, but these are typically from the fully synthetics (methadone, the fentanyl family). Cases like these are rare but it can occur....
