Cannabis and wisdom tooth extraction

Hey Bluelight,

I have a quick question regarding anesthesia (4 wisdom teeth need to be pulled) and bud.

I am going under full anesthesia. The surgeon sent me some paper work and a contract, one of the sections state that I cannot indulge in any recreational drug use for "several weeks" before the operation. Obviously, smoking afterward would cause dry sockets, which don't sound fun. I am wondering if any of you have experience with this?

I plan on not smoking/snorting/drinking/whatever the couple days leading to the surgery. I don't understand why they say "several weeks", do metabolites of cannabis left in the body react with the anesthesia?

I have had surgery before and the cessation of drug use for several weeks was not mentioned, only not to eat or drink for 24 hours.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Search engine, thanks! All have been answered. It won't hurt to smoke before, though I wouldn't go in for surgery high. I'd stop when you stop eating and drinking.

Make edibles for afterward. You don't want dry socket. It's the sucking motion that can cause this many times, not just the smoke. I remember shotgunning hits through my nose until I realized how much that sucks, so I just made brownies.
