I wanted to know if anybody else on here experiences things like me when smoking.

Okay, so when I first started smoking weed I used to enjoy it. I would have a pretty normal reaction to it, I'd laugh uncontrollably and feel fairly relaxed and all of the usual type marijuana symptoms..

but as time went on, I found that smoking weed makes me EXTREMELY depressed.

I've completely stopped using weed. I have once this summer, at a a concert because my girlfriend wanted me too, and the only effects I felt was extreme irritability and severe depression. I don't know why weed does this to me, and I've never met anybody else that experiences that. It's like whenever I smoke my outlook on life just gets very negative, and I'm very irritable and angry. I just wanted to know if anybody else has experienced this? I think it could have something to do with the paranoia involved, as I got caught by my parents twice last year and after that anytime I smoke I find myself at high risk for panic attacks. It almost seems like ever since I started using opiates and amphetamines weed has completely changed for me...

well, I'm pretty much just rambling right now. So does anybody else hate smoking cannabis, due to the side effects?

I wrote a long reply, but then I got stoned, and I am a man of few words when I am baked compared to my sober self so I erased it and wrote this to get my point across:

If you feel that smoking weed makes you depressed nowadays every time you smoke it and you get panic attacks, then you should no longer smoke any weed. I know a lot of people who feel that way when they smoke now - usually they have been abusers of other drugs and alcohol, or have been heavy abusers of the holy herb itself in the past. It sounds like you arn't missing out on anything too awesome by choosing not to smoke it.

Do not go looking for a high that you like better than weed, would be my advice.

Cannabis abuse and depression go hand in hand. Another thing to consider is the strain you're using. If I smoke indicas it's guaranteed depression and anti-social behavior, whereas sativas energize my mind and make me more active. That said, either will make me depressed if I don't practice moderation. I think some people have sensitive brain chemistries and when you over-stimulate them with any kind of drug, the result is downregulation and depression.

My advice to you would be to determine what your goal of smoking cannabis is. Relaxation? Pain relief? Anti-depressant? Active? etc. Then choose a strain based on that goal, and practice moderation. Smoking a lot every single day will manifest abuse symptoms.

Often, the difference between a medicine and a toxin is the dose and frequency of use.
