Quebec's ban on growing cannabis at home unconstitutional, judge rules

Quebecers are free to grow cannabis at home, at least for now.

Quebec Superior Court Justice Manon Lavoie ruled Tuesday the provincial law prohibiting Quebecers from growing cannabis for personal use is unconstitutional.

She said the ban amounts to criminal legislation, which is under federal jurisdiction.

Julien Fortier, the lawyer who led the challenge, said those wanting to grow cannabis at home can now do so legally.

But he cautioned the province can still appeal the ruling, or rewrite the law to try to make the ban constitutional.

I don't like the growing laws in Canada. I can't rent a storage unit and grow weed in it, because government won't let me. I also can't grow in my apartment because my landlord won't let me. Rich people who own property are the only ones who can grow, its bullshit. The only good thing that came from legalization in Canada is the fact you can't get busted, everything else sucks, quality, price etc. I can't smoke anywhere in my city legally yet cigarette smokers can puff anywhere. Legalization has increased harm for me, I used to take one or two puffs of my illegal BC weed and was high, now legal weed I need to smoke a whole big joint. The THC percent on the package is waaaaaay off, I would love to see that investigated. Real 20 percent THC knocks me on my ass.

And how contracts were handed out, its all friends of the liberal party, instead of real growers who know their shit. And how can people can sell an 1/8 of greenhouse grown bud for 50 CAD with a straight face? I don't if I should laugh or cry at Canada's laws. It's going to take years to fix, and in my experience extra laws and regulations are added, never taken away. It will have to be a court case for every issue. Sorry when I heard legal I assumed Amsterdam coffee shops, independent places that each grew their own, where you can consume. Mass produced weed sold like cigarettes isn't good enough, everything was done for anti weed crowd, nothing was done to make cannabis better for the end consumer..

Welcome to this game.. my knowledge is substantial as I waged this war with this for over 20 years. How do you make something unnaturally valuable? Restrict the production of something as natural as water sex and food and "licenses" it to a privileged few.
