Canada: Pure ecstasy can be 'safe' if consumed responsibly: B.C. health officer

Yes, but none of the drugs you mentioned can cause the kind of damage that MDMA abuse can cause.

Have you ever felt total 5-HT downregulation? It is not a pretty thing. Drugs like alcohol and even marijuana can cause some significant damage over time.... but lets put it this way:

You use alcohol for a week, or even years every single day and can come out "fine"
You use MDMA for a week... and you have done semi-permanent damage to your serotonin transporters and have rewired your brain

As for whether any users actually space out their experiences and don't re-dose, I am one

But you are very well educated and the moderator of a website dedicated to drugs ;)
That just proves the point that education is a necessary part of this!

Not always. Some people can use alcohol for a few days and die. And some people can use mdma for 5 days in a row and not have any issues in their life as a result. I've seen it before. They have jobs now still and family and no mental issues.

I guess it depends how responsible you are and if you know your bodies limits. I saw more problems from meth and alcohol and tobacco personally. Crime, agro, health etc. Some people can turn into alcoholics and some into meth heads, some smokers can die of cancer.. I didnt really see that kinda thing with mdma over my 10 yrs or so of using it, until the pills turned to shit and had other substances in them.

They say they are fine, but how do you really know what is happening to them? Many people don't contribute the fact that they are depressed to MDMA use and will simply hide it...

Sure some people can dose retardedly and come out "OK", I was one of them. There will come a breaking point for them eventually if they keep it up though. That I can guarantee.

Same with any drug I guess. If you wont to be 100% safe, dont touch drugs at all then? Fuck that tho (personally), I had some amazing times that i'll never forget or regret. Not just on mdma, also lsd i guess too.

'party' drugs arent for everyone. Some people are borderline metal cases as it is and don't need pushing over the edge, or any help from any drugs. Except ones that are prescribed by specialists I suppose.

I'll agree with people above, in my opinion, MDMA is one of the most magical drugs. To keep it magical of course requires responsible use but there is something about its effects profile that no other drug offers so well.

I would say the mystique would wear off but it is so useful and enjoyable at the same time. People have been healed by it, people have resolved relationship issues with it, people have danced the night away on it and people have learned to be happy again with it.

Yes, other psychedelics are incredibly valuable but not everyone can handle LSD or Mushrooms whereas most people I've met can handle MDMA. I speak more so of some of my older friends I met through the rave scene that had experienced MDMA in times of plenty, not the current state of affairs I'm afraid. Last I heard (I'm not in the scene anymore) there was loads of bunk stuff or stuff that was definitely not MDMA.

Who knows? Maybe the scene will be flooded once again with the love drug that has brought so many together.

Of course, there is totally a negative side to MDMA but since I've always done my research, I've mostly seen the positive side of it. Hopefully one day MDMA will be legalized and to be able to use it, people must pass a test demonstrating that they understand the risks, benefits, and basically general information about it. I don't expect people to become a psychopharmacology expert to use it but to understand proper spacing and the like is necessary imo.

The same should be done for alcohol and tobacco.

I don't agree. It's not on par with meth, meth is far more addictive and has much more issues for society in general, ask a hospital what they see more cases of, meth problems or mdma issues. All chemicals harm our bodies in certain ways, but some chemicals are more addictive and can cause self destruction and violence and other weird shit. You rekon crack is on the same par as meth too? Heroin? Im pretty sure there have been a pretty small % of deaths from pure mdma. Unlike crack or meth or heroin.

Meth is a mixture of dirty and shit chemicals. They are not the same. mdma when pure is cleaner and afaik you dont need to mix a whole heap of shit chems together to make it.

Some people can use any of these drugs and still stay healthy and some can get addicted and lose health and other things.

Anyway, I'm just being an argumentative cunt, you are totally welcome to your opinion, and you have formed it for a reason. As have I.

Respect and regards.

Meth is certainly more addictive, but if you were to do pure MDMA as often as you did pure methamphetamine the problems would be nearly the same. Actually, the MDMA user would probably have MORE damage, because serotonin regenerate at a slower rate than dopamine does....

No it's not, and yes you do. That's how you make ANY drug, you mix a bunch of shitty chemicals together.

PURE methamphetamine is just that, methamphetamine. There are no other chemicals other than HCL there. You can't compare shitty trailer park meth to pure MDMA, that's like comparing bathtub moonshine to medical hash oil.

MDMA = methylenedioxy-methamphetamine

MDMA releases serotonin, meth releases dopamine. They are so extremely similar, many people can't tell the two apart when taken orally.

MDMA is about as safe to abuse as meth is. You can use both of those drugs safely with minimal to no damage, however.

Meth is more addictive

I whole heatedly agree with this, but that doesn't mean MDMA is just as dangerous when used as often...

All drugs are dangerous, yes. But a drug that releases vital neurotransmitters is going to be much more damaging than a drug that binds to opiate/cannabinoid/5-HT or GABA receptors

To call this drug safe only tells us half the story, is what I'm really trying to say to you all. It's not false, but it's certainly not true either...

That may well be true for the person who is taking it, but I think the point of the harm for the drug towards others and to society in general is something to note also.
