Canada changes OxyContin laws

lol In some places they fetch $100 per 80mg Oxycontin, and that is no exaggeration. Talk to the posters from places like Vermont/NH.

I'm in NH, OC 80s are not 100 $. If they are, you are being fucked every which way. The norm is a little over half that price, at absolute max 80 $ and that's still very steep.

I dunno. When I was in Burlington VT they went from $60 at the bare minimum to $100 if you got ripped. $80 seemed standard game.

one week Fent, the next week you find someone with Opana, the next you've got Hydromorph Contin lol)

It's pretty much like that on the streets now and has been for a long ass time. One day oxy, the next day hydromorph contins, the next day it's fuck these mscontins are a bitch to inject, and so forth.

I wonder how long it'll take for the whole country to follow this.

Ya im kinda wondering how long until the other provinces catch on as well. Here doctors already treat oxycontin (not oxycodone specifically as my last doctor had no problem giving me oxy IR's but he wouldnt give out oxycontin) as a worse opiate for some stupid reason.

It's okay with me really because i find morphine to be much better for the type of pain i get and if i want fun there is always the name brand dilly 4's :) . But if anyone is stuck on oxycodone because they can't tolerate other painkillers for whatever reason there abit fucked. I know a few people who can't tolerate other opiates due to the problems of nausea and vomiting or flat out allergic or bad reactions but they have no problem with oxycodone.

If its only in Manitoba, then I'm glad I live in Toronto , Ontario. Hey Stiffcock, where you been bro, nice to see you around again.

So I live here in Newfoundland Canada and as you all know Eastern Canada has had a lot of bad press for Oxycontin use / abuse from 2003 - 2008 and there have been lots of crackdowns. In St. John's the price has gone up significantly <edit> and the avalability has gone way down. You can still get in St. Johns but it is hard in other places on the island.

What is the long term implication of this?? Ideas?

It all depends of the dealer and his circle of customers. If you happen to be a new customer, a dealer in NH may ask for that as he would be dumb not to ask considering there ARE junkies/rich old ladies/dudes who ruin the market for the rest of us. It truly, truly sucks, but there are certainly desperate idiots out there that will pay that+for an OC80. It really 'aint the dealer that is fucking you, it's the person willing to pay ridiculous prices for something when they could bargain down(although if enough people in a dealer's given area are willing to pay <snip>, bargaining will get you nowhere) the price to <smip> possibly <no> if you happen to be dealing with a newb dealer.

You've got to get to the dealer early though, and snatch up his stash before the desperate junkies with more cash than brains get to him! Such a sad state of affairs(the diverted oxy market/trade). While I like vicodin better than oxy, and oxy more than heroin...H is the only "bargain"(if you are dealing with a reputable person who isn't cutting your opiate to shit) in the opiate game at the moment. And when enough Rx pill poppers with more money than sense are finally cut off by their doctors/dealers/government/etc, I'm sure they will ruin the H game as well(from our end)! I hope I'm wrong.

I imagine a lot of this has to do with government regulations and controls over how doctors are prescribing. At the moment in Canada, for example, there are lots of regulations being implemented to help combat opiate addiction and abuse. Doctors prescribing oxycontin and other oxycodone based opioids are under increasing scrutiny over who they prescribe to and how much. There are new regulations in place now that offer specific guidelines onto how physicians prescribe oxycontin to paitents with non-cancer pain.

This means patients who require the drug for pain management will have a harder time obtaining a prescription or obtaining and maintaining dosages and durations of tx that are adequate for their specifiic situation. It also means that finding a green monster is increasingly more challenging and costly.

AND your right .... buddy willing to pay <snip> ... THAT is expensive.... but what do you do?

I was reading that Oxycontin is listed as more addictive than Percocett, which makes no sense to me because they both have the same active ingredient Oxycodone ... is it just because one is shootable and the other is not?

It is like saying Vodka is more addictive than Beer.. am I missing something?

This is going to be everyones verbal warning in this thread that prices of drugs arent allowed here. Theres a price thread in OD if yall wanta tell the prices you pay. Next time ima hand out infractions. You have been given a verbal warning

Oxy is in a class by itself when it come to IV'ing....

Pretty much Brand oc or IR ox is nly DECENT thing that doesnt gel like hell or just plain not work IMO... SO in that respect, the anger on both sides is pry warranted

Same thing applies for Dilaudid in regards to IV??

Not trying to stray from the main topic, but to answer your question 'lovethed', as far as making it easy for preparation, yeah it would be close to on it's own. Both are very easy to prepare, yet other medications can be quite sticky as our friend mentioned about the MSContins. Although I must say our Canadian generic Dilaudid and brand name Hydromorph Contin (no generic available) do prep well.
The big difference is the big jump in bioavailability with Dilaudid; it jumps from ~30% orally to 100% IV. However oxy is not like this since the amount loss on first pass through the liver is minimal, therefore giving it a high oral BA, somewhere close to 90%. Hopefully that information is useful to you.

Peace and Love!

^^^^ The name brand dilaudid pills are by far the easiest to prep and inject. There are only 2 fillers in them not counting the dye so it's alot safer (though still not safe by any means) and easier to prep and inject then MScontins (ugh awful), kadians, MS IR's, M-esslons, hydromorph contin's and even oxycontins.

I never understood why people would pay so much for oxyfuckingcontin though. If i still bought opiates from the street i would much rather snatch up the cheaper morphine pills that seem to be alot more prevelant these days anyhow.

hmmm..*sigh* should be higher restraints on actual junkies, accompanied with doctors not being afraid to prescribe something that actually works to people who need it.

good

some hospitals in the states are becoming "Oxy-Free".

as some one who wakes up in terrible w/d from this shit everyday, but cant imagine baring the pain otherwise.,.. all this stuff does is make people who need pain relief from opioids specifically, need it more.

there are plenty of suitable alternatives.
good riddance....

Looks like it's only in Manitoba.

Pain pills are kind of a problem, it's way too powerful of a drug , and way too easy to get (sometimes). It's going to be a very sad day when science can make an effective pain med with no euphoria, but it just may be for the better. I was first introduced to pain meds in the hospital, and now no other drug can measure up :P Some come close tho....

They are certainly a huge problem for many, many people who didn't know what they were getting into. Yes, for some of us, a lifetime of dependence/addiction to opiates is the only comfortable option, but those of us in that boat are few and far between. I'll admit I love them as much as the next guy, but something fishy has been going in oxycontin for a long time, and it's time to stop that BS from hurting/killing more people.
