can you help identify irradiate food

The FDA approves of irradiated food--You're not going to find them labeling something has been treated with a process they deem safe.

Here's some light reading for you, on the history of irradiation.

One food that I know is typically irradiated is pork. Not sure if that applies to all pork products or just "fresh" cuts of pork, but yeah, irradiation gets rid of the worms/bacteria/iwilleditthislaterwhenicanrememberwhatitis that are typically found in pork.

If its been irradiated with neutrons/protons/heavy ions... I could do an activation assay for induced radioactivity.
(I will however change you ungodly amounts of money to do so)

If its been hit with gamma/x-ray. There is really sweet fuck all you can do to tell. Mainly because gamma/x-ray irradiation does not really change anything of large importance (It creates ions pairs as it slows down in the material, causing weird breaks in big long molecules like DNA and RNA that prevent the bacteria from reproducing, however, if I took a 'random' string of RNA of some N base pairs and another random one of the same N basepairs, one irradiated and one not, there'd be no way to tell the the difference)

EM radiation is an event...light is EM radiation just the gamma the use on food. When you turn off the light bulb, the light no longer remains does it? Particle radiation is different, but is not used in food and is best left to synchrotrons and eggheads to play with.

Medical devices are often gamma sterilized, its an efficient and surefire way to guaranteeing something like a packaged needle is sterile.

nobody fucking answered my question

which food is irradiated (besides pork) and how do u fucking avoid it ????
i dont give a fuck if radiation used is not the type that actually alters molecules or not or w/e the fuck newest theories and education books fill your heads with, i dont like being close to radiation.

if you noticed and read between the lines; if its been exposed to gamma/x-ray, and is not marked, you can not tell. period. end of story.

You would be able to tell if it had been bombarded with particle radiation; but that would require you learning some books w/e fuck newest (about 100 years old) theories.

asecin, you need to chill. I personally don't know how to answer your question, and if no one else on this board does, maybe you should post/ask your question to another source. No need to be angry or disrespectful.
