This may be a stupid question, but if both my spouse and I have been recently tested for STD's and such and are both clean, is it safe for us to share needles? Obviously I'm not going to work her up a shot immediately without at least cleaning out the needle with water a few times.

So my question is, is there any way for us to get Hepatitis C by sharing a needle if neither of us have it? I know sharing needles and using them multiple times is never a good idea, I'm just talking about in a pinch here. Normally we each have our own stash of stuff but there are times when it would be much easier to share a needle than me spend 15 minutes cleaning out one of mine for her to use.

No, you can't catch a disease if neither of you have it. But you would be well advised to use separate and sterile needles after each and every shot. Common sense, brah.

I know that, that's why I said only in a pinch. I didn't know if blood to blood contact could possibly manifest hepatitis or something. We almost always use brand new ones for each shot, but sometimes the pharmacy is closed, etc.

i share with my friend but we both had blood test to make sure and we boil the kettle and sterilize the needle

StaffWriter is correct however I will also add that just because someone isn't showing symptoms of a blood borne infection doesn't mean that they don't have one which they could pass on.

I think the best solution here is to organize yourself such that you are never 'in a pinch'. The pharmacy likely has its hours of operation prominently displayed, and you can always stock up on a whole pile of them.

Even if you are both completely healthy using a needle more than once is very bad for your veins.

Unless you guys have blood tests before every shot or are never ever separated you can't be sure.

One of you could share with someone else, catch hep c, then pass it to the other.

This is what it boils down to. That, and well, the photos above Ripamaru's post speak volumes.

Excellent advice and suggestions!! Re-using needles is extremely hard on your veins.

Since this question has been answered, I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. OP, please feel free to private message me if you have any questions/concerns about this. Thanks!
