My mom was recommended some tablets for her insomnia, nervousness and such. They are sublinguals that contain

Acidum phosphoricum D4 60mg
Strychnos Ignatius D4 60mg
Sepia oficinalis D4 60 mg
Kalium bromatum D4 30mg
Zincum isovalerianicum D4 30mg

Then traces of magnesium and lactose.

What does D4 mean?
And - placebo effect aside - could these tablets help her with above mentioned symptoms?

I would be very wary of either consuming these or advising my own mother to do so as Strychnos Ignatius is a natural source of two poisons: strychnine and brucine. Do some research and decide from there.

My mom's new doctor told her to try them. Many things are poisonous, depending on quantity. Like right now I think I poisoned myself with chocolate 😆

My daughter went through homeopathic therapy for scoliosis. It didn't help her, but at least it didn't actually hurt her because the homeopathic solutions are so weak: Like one molecule in a gallon. Kinda useless, but you pay good money !
Strychnine at non homeopathic dilution is used as rat poison.

Placebo effect at best at homepathic solution level...

My ex step dad was very much into homeopathy and of course that rubbed off on my mom. Her old (now retired) doc prescribed her zolpidem and alprazolam when COVID, moving to a new city, and her divorce all fell together. Now she wants to "get off the bad medication" (that's taking half a zolpidem once a week and 0.25 mg alpra like twice per month).

I can absolutely understand her not wanting to be on medications, although it seems like she doesn't have a dependency

One of my biggest gripes with homeopathy is that it can convince people to delay actual needed medical treatment leading to worse outcomes and even death, I had a family member who would try numerous homeopathy remedies and even stuff like chelating therapy which itself can be extremely dangerous. They would listen to people on shows like "The Drs" and "Dr Oz" who promote a bunch of nonsense quackery to the general public.

As long as they aren't delaying or stopping needed medical treatment it may be relatively harmless but in my opinion its just best to avoid altogether. Ensuring good diet with proper micronutrients and maybe using supplements is going to be more effective than anything homeopathy can provide
