Does anything help you learn to appreciate music after the drugs have worn off. Some music I have a hard time feeling any emotion from but I think that it might not be bad music. I am just not used to it or something. I was wondering whether being in the psychedelic state could help you to see past your established boundaries and take in these new experiences without prejudice. Sort of like being a baby again. Has anyone tried using drugs for anything like this.

Have you ever used a psychedelic before? This is pretty much a common effect of all of them, I'd say. Music always sounds mind blowing while tripping, especially electronic music like trip hop. You hear things you've never heard, you realize things and also it all takes on a new meaning to you because while tripping, you can soar through your mind to the music, reach levels of euphoria you thought couldn't be achieved, and yes I most certainly would say it changes your appreciation for music.

At least that's how it's been for me. I'm a musician so maybe it's different.

Yeah, psychedelics can do this really strongly. I have gained a much better interest in acoustic guitar after my most recent psychedelic experience due to hearing it whilst tripping and finally giving it some well deserved attention.

I mean after you have been tripping. Not while you are still high.

Yeah I am a guitarist been playing for 5 years now, and one of my main reasons for doing psychedelics apart from all the insightful, spiritual experiences is expanding my creativity and appreciation for the arts. You don't wanna take a psychedelic, and start trying to make music. For me it doesn't work like that. So many things race through your mind it's hard to play your intstrument lol :P But what you wanna do is listen to many different genres of music, with your eyes closed and focus in each detail very clearly. I don't know how it works, but after the trip when the effects are gone, somehow you are just more creative and can appreciate music and art more. As a musician when I'm improvising I have definitely noticed how much psychedelics have done to me when it comes to creating original music representing what I'm all about. Also take a look at some musicians in the 70s and stuff, who took LSD and other drugs, a lot of them have become the most inspirational musicians ever.
