Can opiates cause instead of help headaches?

For a while now every time I take my tabs, I eventually end up with a bad headache & can't sleep w/ some anxiety. I was wondering if anyone else ever gets these & if it's common @ all. Kind of confuses me b/c you would think if anything an opiate would prevent pain, unless this is just a rebound effect of it.

Yea, headaches are listed as one of the side effects of opiates. I find excedrine migraine to be better than OC for a headache.. that's just me!

yes, headache is a somewhat common side effect of opiates

see if taking a tylenol or aspirin works?

Excedrine migraine is amazing. It has Tylenol, Aspirin and caffeine in them... They even help my mind numbing migraines.. Might want to give those a try!! Hope you feel better!

yeah, give a little caffeine a try. it might counteract whatever opiates are doing to cause a headache in your head, idk though

Well I think maybe I'll try some ibuprofen (motrin) if they give me headaches again (which I'm sure they will) since the opiates already have tylenol in them. Maybe I'll give coffee a try too, like you said.

I used to never really have any side effects with opiates @ all, but now they give me headaches & anxiety when they start to wear off, and it's pretty bad. It really bugs me, but what are ya gonna do ya know? I don't even take them that much either, and always in fairly low doses.
