Can Methamphetamine alone cause Serotonin Syndrome?

Just interested on the subject, as I experienced a very severe Meth OD/psychosis last year. Which I also had many symptoms similar to SS I mean I can't begin to describe the feeling of just pure tremor/shaking, increased heart rate/eyes popping out of my head practically etc. It was horrible, I had been smoking LARGE amounts of Methamphetamine really good quality at that for about 5-6 days straight. Until I began to enter psychosis I became paranoid and Injested all my 1.2.1.3 gram of speed orally and then...around 15 mins after dosing that (already being HIGH as shit mind you from constant smoking) all hell was released. Anyway yeah just wondering if Speed alone can cause even mild to severe SS...Cause that day is still marked as the most terrifying experience of my entire life. Any thoughts welcome.
 
No it is not, your body will convert excess dopamine and serotonin as you say you don't take any MAOI. If you take MAOI it's better to go emergency...

CORRECTION: Methamphetamine alone as a strong releasing agent in rare cases at very very high dosage also may be cause of Serotonin Syndrome. I think you must close to ld50 value that is 55 mg/kg as 70 kg person as 3,8 gr.

Im not sure your body actually convert excess serotonin, not sure about the dopamine, but isnt that why Serotonin Syndrome happends? If the body was able to get rid of exess serotonin I wonder woukd there ever be such a thing as Serotonin syndrome?
 
Meth psychosis = meth psychosis.

I don't think there is any evidence to suggest you had serotonin syndrome....
 
Serotonin syndrome happens because people combining two drugs to enchance effects or mistakenly. There is an enzym called MonoAminoOxidase (MAO) that is responsible for breaking down the serotonin and dopamine at the synapses. There is also drugs which are inhibiting this enzyme, as a result there is more serotonin and dopamine. It is a way to treat depression. If you take this enzyme inhibitor and relasing agent, than your MAO could not convert serotonin. Excess serotonin that is around cause the syndrome which can be deadly.

So you guys think it was just a normal OD on methamphetamine?

@Morphing-Well maybe I'm just ignorant when it comes to SS and don't know all the right symptoms etc, but unless it was just a real severe OD I don't know...just seemed so bad to just be that. Methamphetamine psychosis maybe scary but a psychosis doesn't result in eyes popping out of your head etc..so its not just "Meth psychosis = Meth psychosis" cause that doesn't add up to what I experienced, it was least an OD IMO but yeah Idk just very interested as I said in what I went through. Always wanted to figure it out exactly.

I've experienced meth psychosis before that day multiple times in a week and it was confusing and scary but not to where I actually ODed or anything. It was disconnection from reality basically and within hours of being in the state it'd fade away gradually. This psychosis just seemed worse cause I was definitely simultaneously ODing to cause it was NOTHING like the others I've experienced and of course this one put me in ICU.

I think you may be in a condition that can be called semi serotonin syndrome, you must close to convulsion dosage when you take the extra 1,5 gr dosage, altough you have already may be like 500 mg in your system. It will be too neurotoxic to your dopaminergic neurons, take a lot tryptophan and phenyalanin diet, B and E vitamins, selenium, antioxidant and Mg supplements to take care of oxidative damage.
 
Methamphetamine is not sufficiently serotonergic to cause SS on it's own; the symptoms you describe are typical of stimulant overdose.

Exactly.... learn when to call it a day. Crash get some rest and do it the next day if you want. I would be surprised if something bad didn't happen when you are tweaking hard for 5+ days! FIEND!
