Can LSD be stored in soda?

I re-read the book 'Go Ask Alice' earlier and it mentions the main character going to a party in which they have several cans of soda laced with LSD. I know that the chlorine in tap water destroys LSD, but can you store it in soda? or would that also destroy it?
 
Interestingly enough, the rate of hydrolysis of d-LSD (active) to iso-LSD (inactive) is accelerated in basic solutions and reduced in acidic solutions (IE phosphoric acid containing sodas).

As such, I would assume SHORT-TERM storage of LSD in soda is fine, but not for more than an hour or two to be safe. Who know what else could react with such a fragile molecule in such a cocktail?

Accordingly, if you enjoy drinking solutions of soap, lye, or other bases, I would advise you to find a different way to dose... :p
 
Nah as long as it is short term you'll be fine. My friend and I have (secretly) dosed each other multiple times by putting tabs in a shot glass and and offering the shot to the other. I would never do that to someone for their first few trips, but when someone's done it enough it is always well-received. I did it to my friend on his birthday (I had already consumed some) and about an hour later he looked over at me and goes "you bastard" with the biggest grin on his face. We had a great time that night.

I personally think that is okay when your both use to it and enjoy as much as you both have in the past. :D

Nahh man it's not like that. He was already loving the free birthday acid and then I offered him some Molly about a 45 minutes later to make sure he had a great night. This was all while drinking heavily so it was ended up being a wild night but one we both forgot. As I said earlier, I would never do it to someone who hadn't tripped, and I definitely wouldn't have done it to him if I thought at all that he wouldn't be happy about it.
