Can I use a soldering iron to heat my lightbulb vape?

Is this ok or does it risk getting to hot?

Thought it would be better than the lighter/candle methods and I already have one.

I was thinking of putting the soldering iron in the upright position and have the bulb touching the iron...could there be any issues with it touching like cracking or whatever?

I think that this is going to transfer heat to an area that is insufficiently large to effectively vaporise the weed. It'll only heat the point at which it touches the glass. The fact that it probably won't work is my primary concern, but it seems likely that the glass could shatter, as there'll be a large increase in temperature over a short distance. Besides, is the candle really not working out for you?

Haven't actually used candle yet.

Was using lighter and as I was thinking of candle to 'upgrade' and soldering iron came to mind as poss alternative.

Just broke another one and I'm out for the night . Makes two I broke today.

Seems I gotta brush up on my vape game.

a soldering iron won't transfer enough heat to vaporize the weed...I've never tried to vaporize weed with one, but I've soldered a lot of wires and components and printed circuit boards and I can tell you that it won't work...it may reach the temperature required. (maybe) but the problem is that it doesn't have enough surface area to work properly. Most soldering irons have a pointed or chisle tip to focus the heat to the work area. usually a wire or component lead...much less area than you would require to vape some weed.

Full on upgrade

If you are pretty handy you can do a complete upgrade and make the mayonnaise jar vapourizer.

Get a clean soldering iron (no lead solder on it)
Get a ratchet head
Mount in an overturned mayonnaise jar
Figure out the tubing and mounting, just pull some mcgeiver type moves, PVC is your friend as long as it is not in contact with heat
Use air tubing from an aquarium air pump for the inhaling tube.

-There should be three holes total in the lid from the mayonnaise jar; one for the soldering iron/wratchet combo, one for the inhaling tube, and one for the air intake tube

- The lid can be glued to PVC Tubing of similar size to give room for the handle of the soldering iron.

Oh, and specific directions are floating around somewhere on the interwebs but sometimes it's nice to come up with the design on your own so I left you with that option.

Thanks for that but I made another lightbulb vape yesterday and got some real nice hits from it.

Bought a candle and crushed the weed up more finely which made all the difference.
