quick question.
ive been on 20mg. of Valium a day for about 2 months on & off sometimes ill skip a day or two but im trying to cut back so i dont need to double dose.
Right now im on day 3 without any benzos.

Basically im wondering if i keep chugging water will this help shorten the half-life & flush it out of my system so i dont have to double dose to feel something off of 20mg.?

Also in those two months the longest ive gone without it is about a week.

- Thanks:)

Logically one would think that the more water you drink the quicker you would flush it out of your system, however thats just my opinion.

With lots of water and a good break im pretty sure your good to go, i've never been prescribed benzo's but I have them readily available to me and do take some once in a while, it keeps me calm and always ensures a great rest however the next days are a little lethargic.

Anyways, good luck bro.

I'm not sure I understand the question correctly...

Are you asking if by chugging lots of water, you can dose each day and not develop a tolerance?

I don't think so...my guess would be that regardless of how quick you can get it out of your system, dosing everyday will still cause the receptors to downregulate eventually. Taking breaks is the only thing you can do to lower your tolerance.

Drinking a lot of water can help the body excrete certain drugs faster. Unfortunately, diazepam is not one of those drugs. Diazepam and its major metabolite nordazepam are pretty much completely insoluble in water. Hence, they are stored in adipose tissue in the body. And, as everyone has already mentioned, just excreting the drug faster isn't going to rectify tolerance--that is compensatory neuroadaptation kicking in and only a break is going to reset it.

a lONG period of abstinence. like, months to years.

my benzo tolerance wont leave me alone :(

Good answer.

The very simple way to put this is that most benzos are fat soluble but not water soluble, so water isn't going to get them out of your system.

^ An addendum here just in case it crosses anyone's mind: eating lots of fat as an alternative to chugging water will NOT work. It will in fact make it last longer by filling up fat tissue which absorbs some of the drug and keeps it in your system longer. This is also true for THC and PCP.

If you want to get marginally faster elimination rate, I'd say excercise and cut down fat. I have very little body fat and benzos last shorter for me than most of my friends.

FUN FACT! who knew that Diazepam is part of the cocktail of drugs that is administered to combat the deadly effects of the cold war famous VX nerve gas!?

hooray history channel for overflowing my head with irrelevant facts that I seem to be 1000% percent better at remembering than anything academicly important!
