Opioids Can grapefruit juice act as a potentiator for tramadol? Please help asap, thanks.

hmmmm

OK well aside from grapefruite giving a noticable effect or not..

since grapefruite will break down the opiates slower, would that help it stay in your system longer????? and if so would this be a good tool to combat withdrawls/easing off your supply?????

^my kind of doctor

NOTE: Not a doctor med student but thanks....to swim: I have not EVER messed with needles all I know is shooting pills can cause collapsed veins or an infection at the injection site...and missing a bloodline at all can cause a collection of fluid under the skin.

If you have anything else I'll try to help

itd help the tramadol stay in your system an hour or 2 longer, i dont know if that'd really make a significant difference with tapering or combating withdrawals though. in the case of a weak opiate like tramadol i highly doubt it.

OK, my bf and I were debating if eating a vitamin C vitamin would provide any of the benefit that grapefruit juice does. I thought it had to be actual grapefruit juice. Am I wrong?

You're correct, it's the grapefruit

"Grapefruit contains naringin, bergamottin and dihydroxybergamottin, which inhibit the protein isoform CYP3A4..."

Really? As a med student I can tell you, that you are wrong, (and I would like to know you "expirment") it is not useless. If you do , or knew even the SLIGHTEST amount about "the science" then you would know that narcotic opioid antagonists are broken down by the liver protein CYP3A4 and that grapefruit juice counteracts that protein causing a slower metabolism of the drug, not to mention it can have fatal effects when combined with some forms of antihistamines.

For everyone else who would like to try something good here is what my studies have found:

- 1hr before dosing- 8-12oz 100% white grapefruit juice
- 30 min before dosing- 30mg Dextromethorphan
- 0 dosing time- take drug of choice
- 30 min after dosing 4-10oz 100% white grapefruit juice
- 30 min after dosing- 38-50mg diphenhydramine

I should explain the last one....it is commonly found in OTC sleep aids. And can be safely combined with grapefruit juice It will work on two levels
1) As a booster for the opioid
2) It is a for of antihistamine which will help with the itches

Hope this helps!
Gonna try this tonight! :D
