Can cannabis worsen my gynecomastia (bitch tits)?

I've had gynecomastia since I was 14 and it doesn't show that much so never cared for an operation. I've heard cannabis can cause gynecomastia and now I'm a bit worried that smoking 2 times a week (much though) will worsen my gynecomastia. What do you think? Is there any serious research on the subject you can provide me with?

Well I found this from a different forum- http://www.marijuana.com/medicinal-marijuana/4361-gynecomastia-help.html

No one has any conclusive answers but I'll quote some posts that seem to have useful info-

"To be honest with you, I would take that with a grain of salt. According to other stuff I have read, 'street drugs such as heroin, MJ, and alcohol' can cause gynecomastia in young people. Seems like another way of scaring kids. Soon you'll go blind or get hair on your palms=D"

"I did check the Sigma drug catalogue, the PDR, the Merck manual, and the MSDS for THC - nothing in any of them about THC causing or exacerbating gynecomastia."

"Anyway, I looked it up in my medical encyclopedia, and it states that it is usually temporary, and if a drug is the underlying cause, then the dr. should change the prescription. Have you had the problem since you started smoking, or was it before? If marijuana was the cause of your problems, I think, it would go away if you stopped.

If the problem existed before you started smoking (as it is common with puberty) then may be caused by other reasons, like liver problems or cancer. Assuming you've been checked by the doc. and cleared of those issues, it may just be a part of your chemistry, in wich case, surgery may or may not give you the desired effect.

Good Luck!"

Another website had a thing on it- http://www.manboobsguide.com/man-boobs-causes/gynecomastia-and-marijuana/

In this he explains that the reason people say that weed makes it worse is because studies have shown that marijuana use causes testosterone levels to decrease, and because an imbalance in testosterone/estrogen levels is a contributing factor to gynecomastia.

This page- http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003165.htm
Says to stop using all recreational drugs, including marijuana. I guess they just want you to avoid anything that may cause a hormone imbalance.

I'd say that you should do whatever you want. Does it get better when you stop smoking for a period? If quitting weed for a while doesn't make it better as your hormones re-balance then I don't think smoking weed would make it worse. It's up to you, really.

Dunno, I never stopped smoking:D

But when I was 17-19 I only smoke once a month or so and well it didn't get better. I drank alot of alcohol back then though. I guess it hasn't worsen since I started to smoke every weekend but still paranoid, lol... And even if it would worsen I dunno if I could give up smoking... I'd probably just go through an operation.

It's a relatively non-invasive surgery (IIRC its basically liposuction), it probably would be worth getting it if you're spending time worrying about the issue. The recovery period is short, and then it would be off your mind for good. Of course, that's a decision for you and your doctor to make.

Since it's basically liposuction, and insurance company can call it "cosmetic" and not cover it. Even though it is treating a legitimate medical condition.

Fuck I hate insurance companies. But not as much as banks

As usual Roger stole the words right outta my mouth. I couldn't agree more, this coming from someone who has had multiple surgeries.

If that's not an option, I think you may just be getting paranoid ;) If you didn't notice anything changing, nothing probably changed. I use the qualifier probably here because so far what I am seeing is inconclusive. Do what you think is best.

I've got fsub-clinical gyno from when I used testosterone and dianabol as an 18 year old. Although since then as I put on weight I started to gain more fat around the chest the actual lump under my nipple never got any bigger and I'm certain that if I lost the weight I would lose that fat on my chest. So no, I don't think it does cause or exacerbate gyno, but if it does it's incredibly rare.

Also, those testosterone studies psychomim was referring to that some drug propaganda uses was pretty much debunked quite a while ago iirc. Apparently the study design was very poor and they used unrealistic doses or something such as that (unless they've done more studies since then which show the effect on testosterone, which I doubt).

just buy a weight set and start lifting. your bitch tits will turn into muscle and your t-levels will go up shrinking the fatty tissue around your breast area. take some l-tyrosine before you workout to make it extra effective.

I think that the reason that marijuana "causes" this is that it encourages poor posture. Pay attention to your posture and do exercise to improve your figure and I'm confident that they will go away. I had this problem to a small degree (more like pectus excavatum) but my build is great now all because of my improved posture and exercise. You want to support your chest with your lower back and lower abs, and if you do this your breasts will stretch out over your frame rather than dangle from it as they do when you hunch over. You'll also feel that your chest and lungs can expand to full capacity since there is no "crease" from hunching, and your top ab muscles can actually develop unimpeded.

That's rubbish unfortunately. 'Spot reduction' using weightlifting is impossible and myth. This is why doing crunches won't help you lose the fat on your belly.

I'm an amateur bodybuilder. I've run testosterone cypionate alongside my usualy daily smoking, and I've never noticed signs of bitch tits. Studies have shown estrogenic activity in vitro but they've consistently failed to show significant estrogenic activity in vivo.

when you build up muscle it stretches the fat out so it makes it appear firmer. Yes, I know the actual fat isn't turning into muscle but it definitely makes a BIG difference in appearance. (ie saggy loose tits, vs. nice firm ones with some muscle underneath)

They do make your stomach more muscular and make you lose weight all over, however. Chest exercises for someone with breast appearance issues is a wonderful idea IMO, seeing as poor posture likely has something to do with it.

As I was saying, spot reduction is a myth. Apart from beginners just starting out (the main exception), gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time is difficult, if not impossible for most if they're not taking steroids or hGH for example. Whether lifting would help, I don't know, but if I were trying to lose the fat in that area then yes, I would recommend lifting to maintain muscle (or gain a little if truly a beginner) but the main reason would be to retain the muscle whilst I create a calorie deficit whilst using cardio excercise to lose as much as fat as possible.

I still stand by my response to his comment though and if it's true gynocomastia then losing weight might not help. I've seen bodybuilders with pronounced gyno with a rediculously low bodyfat percentage before.

I've had slight gynecomastia in the past and had your exact same worry when I used to smoke heavily. I think it was a result of being over weight in my case (dunno if that's applicable to you). Eating right and working out (cardio and weights) has solved the problem for me.

I don't think we're really arguing... I think it's clear that exercise will improve someone's physique.
