Can anemia be caused by injecting pills?

Yesterday morning I lost my job and was very upet so I went home and took ~600mgs of DXM. It was not a good trip. I ended up not being able to piss so I went to the ER and had a catheter put in my dick. Well they took some blood work and discharged me. When I got home I got a call on my cell. It was the doctor and he told me that I had a very low red blood cell count, he said '34' and it should be closer to 40. I'm not sure what that means exactly but here is my point... I have injecting my subutex for about a year now and I never had any health problems before. Is it possible that injecting pills could cause anemia? I know that kidney disorders can cause anemia, and that injecting pill fillers does not do the kidneys much justice. I tried the fucking search engine. Can anyone provide some insight?
 
Certain types of kidney failure can cause anemia as the kidneys form a hormone known as erythropoietin, or EPO, which stimulates the production of red blood cells by the bone marrow. Kidney failure is usually advanced before EPO production has dropped to levels where anemia is clinically evident, and kidney disease is only one of the many underlying causes of anemia.

I would follow up with your regular physician.

Yeah, pretty much what they said, some other classes of pharmecuticals (i.e. anti-neoplastics) can cause anemia, but I doubt you where shooting chemo...

Go see your Dr/NP.
 
OP, if you had chronic renal failure to the point where you were now anemic because of it, you would be sick from your renal disease first. And the anemia of CRF is usually much more marked than a 34.
